Saturday Night Ramblings

When I first started blogging over a year ago it was primarily to keep a journal for my grandchildren to read when they get older. Hopefully they will be interested in what their dear old grandmother had to say about things in the 'olden days' because you see when they can read well enough to read all of this foolishness I will be old. I have been thinking lately that I really should change my bloggy name from Midlife Mom to Old Age Mom, Ancient Mom, Old Geezer Mom or something of that sort.
I didn't feel that way until I read in a blog written by a youngster in her 30's that she is now middle aged. I guess at 56 I am a little more then middle aged as I don't think I will live to be 112. What are the chances? I guess other then a few aches and pains I don't feel my age, well except when I go flailing off my horse at a canter and end up with a plethora of bumps, bruises, scrapes, concussion, blood clots, and broken finger nails.

So I ask you, what do you think? Any name suggestions?

I saw this cartoon the other day and thought it would make me a nice new career. I like to decorate and I like cats so this would be perfect! It would be the one job that might bring me out of retirement! :o)

It's now Sunday afternoon. After church we went to the Rudder for lunch with a delightful couple that have been married 46 years. I asked how they met and they each had their own version with his being the funniest. How nice to see a couple still in love after all these years. :O)

I must start thinking about packing for our trip. We leave for Key Largo on Thursday morning for a convention that we go to every year. I have been shopping for some new clothes and thankfully they have some spring clothes out plus I ordered some online from Talbot's one of my favorite stores. We have a Talbot's here in town but they don't have as much of a selection as the catalog. I still need a few more things, one being sandals but those aren't out anywhere so I guess I'll have to wait and get some in Miami.

This was the infamous trip we went on last year and brought home Noodles and Munchkin. For those of you who weren't reading my blog at the time here's a quick recap. We adopted Noodles and Munchie from a cat shelter in Key Largo. They came home with us on the plane and Noodles yowled all the way from Florida to Maine and also had an accident in his carrier so I had to give him a bath in the restroom on the plane. Now you know how small those rest rooms are and we were having turbulence at the time which made matters even worse. The sinks are the size of tea cups and he was not happy having his inflight bath! We got the job done though and things smelled much better. :O)

They have been a wonderful addition to our family. They, well Noodles, loves the grandkids and plays with them every time they are here. They have adapted to our cold temps and love to go out in the snow if only for a few minutes and then come back in where it's warm. Munchie is much more timid and hides if there are people in the house that she doesn't know but the minute they are gone she is back out sitting in my lap or wrestling with Noodles. They are brother and sister and play well together racing and tearing through the house. Am I glad we did it, yes! Would I bring more home on the plane, NO!

Good night kitties!

What....no more kitties this year? I shall miss the wild tales while in Florida.

I am going to have to think of a good name for you. I really like the one that you have so this will be difficult. I have no doubt that you will still be around at 112!!!

Can't wait for the fashion show. See you soon.

I guess I've been reading you for nearly a year or so, because I remember reading that post. Is that how we connected over the Maine coon cats???
Can't remember for sure, but I'm so glad we did.
I wouldn't worry about changing your blog name unless you really really want to.
Florida sounds wonderful. It's been terribly cold and wet here lately (no sunny California these days!)
Vincent says "hi" to Noodles and Munchie :)

You don't have shelters in your neck of the woods?

Leave "midlife mom" alone. I'm used to it, and I hate change.

Key Largo - I'm so jealous. And I think you should stick with your name. It would be like me trying to change dcrmom, even though I'd love to just start using Jo-Lynne. No one would know who I was! ;-)

Please do not change your name! Speaking of cats mine is sitting in my lap as I type, trying to help! Hope you all have a great vacation and please bring us some warmer weather!

Don't change your name - I'd like to change mine sometimes, too, but, like Donna, I dislike change - way too much of it at work!

Well, 30's is NOT middle aged...even when I was a kid, I remember telling my dad how I had it all figured out...
everything up to age 40 was young...40-60 was middle aged, 60-up...well, old. LOL
I just turned 45 as you know, and for sure I'm technically middle aged so I should name myself middle aged mommy since my youngest child is only 5! But I guess half the time I forget I'm middle aged, so why remind myself? ;)

Maybe for your name, something to do with horses?

I just love that photo...is that your granddaughter? She is adorable, and so is the kitty!

Key Largo sounds wonderful!
Blessings,
~Tammy

I don't think you should change your name either.Just cause some 30 something thinks that is middle age doesn't make it so.

Those kitties are lucky to have you even it flying home on the plane was stressful. They look like happy cats.

Hello you old geezer you!! hehe Sorry, couldn't resist when I read the first part of your post! hehe Hey, we're not old at all, we still have lots of p*ss and vinegar left in us yet! lol

Ooooh, how lucky you are to be going to Key Largo!! You sure you want to leave all that snow behind and go to a place that's warm and sunny and...ya, I guess you do want to leave the snow!! lol Hope you have a great time at the Convention and make sure you take lots of pictures.

I guess you bringing home the two kitties last year was before I read your blog, I don't recall that story at all. Omigosh, that must have been quite the experience, trying to wash a cat in a plane washroom! lol Love the pictures.

Love ya! xoxoxo

I think the overwhelming vote is that we like your name the way it is, so don't change it on our account! :) That fresh seafood at the Rudder makes my mouth water!
Key Largo sounds so...tropical! Aaah. Lucky you.
I had a good chuckle reading your story of the cats on the plane. Oh my..yes, those bathrooms are tiny!
They are beautiful, and very lucky kitties :)
What a sweet photo of your little granddaughter and Noodles.

I don't know about you but I'm planning on remaining middle-aged forever...no "senior citizen" or "elderly" for me so I vote you keep your name!

And I just love your kitty photos...so playful.

MM! You are NOT too old to be called Midlife Mom, no way no how. I am 38 yo and I see middle age as 50+.

I absolutely adore the kitty photos. They are cute. Your kitties look happy and healthy. So does that grandkid :)

I am going to the gulf and N. Daytona FL at the end of March...I just started shopping for some new duds. It's our sisters getaway.

Midlife - I am sorry you are having such a tough winter this year. I hope it starts getting warmer for you guys and my beloved lilacs will appear soon (well in a couple of months). How is Buddy fairing this winter???

Change your name to "Rider" it's appropriate.

I love the story of Noodles and Munchkin. I'll have to go back and read the original post. I did not know you in htose days. In fact, a year ago I didn't know blogging!

About the Middleage Mom thing--I understand the dilemma. I am older than you, but I'm resisting the Senior classification! My son commented to me the other day that he was, "middle-aged". He is soon to be 36. I told him I was aware of his age because I have "lived every day of it!":-)

I probably shouldn't have tagged you with a silly horse virus but I forgot that you were gone. You might check out my blog for details on the tag, it is a fun one to do.

Decorating with cats.. UMMMMMMM I have 4 you can have for your new job :) my 4 cats are making me crazy.. one of them is having a problem with using the litter box(as in not using it and just going any where it pleases)I think 8 months old is plenty old enough to have figured out the whole litter box thing. UGH..

So when I bring you these cats You can just tuck me away into your suit case and I'll tag along on our trip ;)

have a great trip.
