Florida Fun Continued

Florida seems like a distant memory here in the north country with temps plummeting once again.  We got some rain night before last which made for extremely slippery roads when it froze over night.  Many accidents and some roads were closed until road crews could get out and put down sand and salt.  The road going down to our lake house was closed as it is very hilly and can be like an ice rink at times.

This sure doesn’t look like outside my window now but was the view from our room at the hotel.

I am always fascinated by the beautiful flowers at the resort and love to take pictures of them.

There was a great art show going on while we were there.  We weren’t allowed to take any pictures inside but here are some of the pieces that were outside.  There was a whole display of these different eggs and they were a howl. Wish I could remember all of their names.  There were several paintings by a man from Maine of the Maine coast.

The day before we left a bunch of us went to a rather funky establishment.  We have driven by it many times but just thought it was a biker bar and might be a bit sketchy.  It’s called Alabama Jack’s and come to find out it is a pretty comical place.

This gal is 80 years old and dances with the customers.  She has 20 years on me but I couldn’t begin to keep up with her IF I could dance!  Her husband was sitting over on the side and they have been married 62 years.  He would come out and dance with her sometimes and it was so cute to see them together.

Here she has one of our guys that did a super job keeping in step with her.

As you can see she loves what she does!

I’d like to have that tiny waist!!  :o)

This shirt cracked me up.

It was fun, the food was good, there were lots of interesting people and it wasn’t sketchy at all.  :o)  Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Speaking of books, Needled Mom and I finished the book about Dick and Rick Hoyt, Devoted.  It is an amazing book and will leave you feeling uplifted and blessed.  This father has spent his life making life better for his son who was born with so many challenges.  Read it, you won’t be disappointed.

I can imagine how much you're going back to Florida in your mind! What a beautiful spot - the flowers are just like the ones I like to photograph in Hawaii. Maybe we should head down there for a vacation next time!

I keep thinking of Kev being out there in all the weather you're having, but then I remember he's just up the road in his own apartment with his wife. BTW, Bob Walker is paying Angie's way out on March 25 for an interview with Mike. Pray!!! Please!

Alabama Jack's looks like a really fun place!

Stay warm and off those icy roads!

Thank you for the warm sunny pictures of your trip. I sure needed that today. It's close to 0 degrees here and I sure needed to see someplace warmer than here. It looks like you all had a wonderful time. The flowers are just beautiful!

It looks like you all had so much fun!!! It snowed here an inch last night and is 28 degrees but we are expecting a heat wave this weekend.

The flowers are beautiful! It gets me in the mood to start planning what flowers I am going to plant this year.

I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a place like Alabama Jacks! Looks like a fun place. :0)

Oh the colours! The flowers! The sun!

Sigh. I can't WAIT for spring to arrive! I am heartily sick of the greyness and the cold.

The flowers are so beautiful. It makes me long for spring even more. While we don't have ice and snow currently, I'm still sick of the rain and mud.

The sun actually shone today and it was so good for my soul. I hope the weather breaks for you soon.

I got the book at the library yesterday - am anxious to get started on it. I think DC would like it, too.

Come on over for a visit - I'll bet you can relate to my latest ramblings.

I wouldn't have wanted to leave those palm trees, those gorgeous flowers, the sunshine, the HEAT!!! lol Gorgeous view from your balcony as well. I'm so sick of the snow and cold, I'm about ready to move south, wayyyyy south:-)

Those bronze eggs are so delightful, the type of displays I enjoy! lol The flowers sure are beautiful as well.

Omigosh, that lady is 80 years old?? The dancing is what most probably keeps her young:-) She seems to be a real delight and what fun she has with the customers. Glad you all decided to go to that place even though you thought it was a bit sketchy...as you say, never judge a book by its cover!!

Hey, it's 16F right now...a heat wave! lol Just so glad to see it above zero for a change!! Love you to bits xoxoxo

I would have loved Alabama Jacks. Looks like my kind of place...I love to dance.

The flowers were wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

We have had so much snow, rain, etc. at home that the roof of our church's gymnasium collapsed. It was a miracle as there were kids in there just five minutes before it collapsed. I plan to post about it sometime soon.

It was amazing that the news media gave it such a positive slant, quoting all the elders and our Pastor who talked about the goodness of God. I believe God is going to do a wonderful work as a result of this disaster, that was not a tragedy.
