Monday, Monday.....

I know you all have been just holding your breath waiting for the details of the Spa*nx saga. To say it was rather anticlimactic would be an understatment. Sunday morning I got up and was getting ready for church and thought this would be a great time for a test drive with the contraption. So I go into the bathroom, lock the door and get the thing out of the package. It looked rather big for something that is supposed to be tight and hold everything in.

I put it on without a problem and it certainly didn't hold in ANYTHING. I think I must have bought the wrong size as this thing was loose! Remember what your grandmother's old wrinkled winter stockings looked like around the ankles? Well that's what this thing looked like.

And hot! For the Queen of Hot Flashes this certainly isn't something I would want to be wearing under my clothes. It was suffocating, not because it was tight but because it was all this stretchy material all around my body from my thighs to my.... ahem....bosom! Sorry Spa*nx you're going back to the store to live out your life or maybe some other unsuspecting full figured gal will take you home!

The snow is dropping fast around here. Yippee! It's been rather warm and with some rain on the weekend the snow that we got on Friday didn't even last over night. Funsize, Ann, T and I went to the stable on Saturday morning to give all the guys a good grooming. T rode Kipper bareback with Funsize leading and with me walking beside her. Kip was frisky and knew everyone else was out in the pasture so wasn't interested in giving T a good ride. She didn't even have her bridal there so rode with the leadrope tied to the halter for 'reins'. She enjoyed it though and put him through his paces very well. I think she is going to be more confident in her riding this year. Maybe turning six is the majic number. :0)

If you look in the upper right hand of my sidebar you will see a new award designed by my friend Nap Warden at Nap Warden Designs. I wanted this award made to give to those of you that have horses and care for them the way it's supposed to be done. It has been brought to my attention way too many times lately of neglect of our equine friends. It breaks my heart to hear about these things as our horses depend on us for everything and are loyal companions asking only for the very basics.

Please take this award, post it on your sidebar and pass it along to others that you know are deserving! I know I have probably missed someone so please forgive me and add it despite my lagging memory!

Too funny about the Spandex! I say good riddance to the thing!
I have no doubt that you provide the very best care to your horses. You are truly deserving of this award.
xoxo

I think that I am going to steal your award and possibly put it on our blog. We too have taken in horses that are unfed, under weight and owners can't afford them anymore. Love the Spa*nx. That is a great story!

I'm glad you tried and reported on the foundation garment of the moment. I keep hearing about how great it is, I'm old enough to remember just a little bit aobut girdles. Sounds like the same deal to me! No, thanks!

You have me howling over the sp*anx. I had the same impression as you, there's no way anyone is ever getting me back into a girdle but isn't it funny how things come full circle. We got liberated from those things and now the younger generation thinks they're some great invention. lol

Thanks for the award. I need to get my blog revamped and get my awards listed.

Your Spanx was definitely too big. And yes, hot. Take it back. GAH. I don't care for the things, even when they fit properly.

Fun new award! :-)

I already snagged my award before you left a comment on my blog! No helmets were worn at the rodeo, except by a few of the bull riders.

Thank-you for the award! I have a spanx and find it quite uncomfortable. I have one that's too small the one that fits, well it is hot and I don't wear it! :)

I agree you had me howling with you story of the Spandex! I will pass on it! Can you imagine how hot it would be in the summer months! I guess maybe that is the idea, you will sweat to death, but hey you may lose a few pounds while you are at it! LOL! Savannah is now starting to trot around, and the other day she stated she is ready to start loping! What?? I am not sure if mom is ready. Angel is great with her and takes great care of her, but still that is my baby! And she will be 6 in a few weeks! We have never pushed her with her riding. I figure they get there on there own accord and if I force her she will just quit. Keep encouraging her and she will get there. Thanks for the award, I will put it on my blog. Have a great day!

Thanks for the award and counting mules into the mix!!!

Loved your Sp*anx story. The heat I could take, but you MUST have had the wrong size. I have to admit that I thought they were a little strange fitting as well. Perhaps we need to be thin with just a few ripples to make them work. ;)

I was looking for the picture of T on the horse in the story. Bet you forgot the camera. I'm sure she will really enjoy riding with you guys this summer. Does DIL ever go out with you guys?

Glad to hear the snow has melted somewhat. Did Mom and Dad get home safely? I'm sure they must have their winter coats on around your place to thicken up the blood.

LOL after all that and the darn thing didn't fit! hehe Yesterday I was at Tim Horton's having a coffee with June and one of the cashiers from the local grocery store happened to sit next to us and we got into a conversation...we were suddenly talking about those Spanx thingies and she had us in tears relating her experience with it! Too funny! lol I think I will pass on them, especially if they're hot...like you, I'm getting a lot of those POWER SURGES lately! lol

Glad to hear your snow is also going down...we had quite a downpour last night and that's gotten rid of more of ours. Supposed to get more rain later on tonight. Bring on Spring...we both need it:-)

Congratulations to all those you passed on your awards to...it's wonderful to know that a lot of people take such great care of their horses. As you say, you read too many horror stories of how some abuse them!!

Take care my friend!! Love ya! xoxox

So - my sentiments exactly and I've never even seen one of those things! I just read an article about Kathy Lee Gifford going back on morning t.v. and they asked her what she has done to get ready for t.v. again - she says she's wearing one of those tip to toe girdles!! Yuck!

I am not a fan of spanx myself - too restrictive. And I love that little donkey - so cute. My girls went riding last weekend for the first time and loved it. I'll have to try to get them on horses more often. But I'm allergic - so that will be hubby's job when he returns.

And thank you for your comments :0) Im glad you enjoyed my hubs and I's courtin story!
Bareback is my favorite way to ride...I do the same thing with the halter. Something about bareback and barefoot that is soothing to the soul.
Take care and have a blessed week my blogging friend!

Congratulations on your award...I just love hearing about your horses even though I know very little about them! I still love them, so it's fun to hear about yours!

We're back from our road trip...and yes, we did spy your profile picture gal, Minnie, a few times during our stay! :)

Hi there! I wandered over here from visiting another "old favorite" blog, I think it was the mention of snow - we still have mountains of it here. I really enjoy your blog, and it sounds very nice over at your place (400 acres-wow). We have deer and moose that ramble through the yard, but no horses. :)

Thanks for the giggle. Got my keyboard full of coffee. I once wore spankz under my breeches to foxhunt (middle-aged spread). By the end of the day, I had no feeling left below the knee.
I'm a new blogger, and I'm taking advantage of the award offer. Thank you!
