Friday Happenings

Any of you that know me well know that I have a soft spot in my heart the size of Texas for the animals of this world. Ever since I was a young child I have felt a bond with just about any animal I have come in contact with. We always had a number of pets ranging from guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats and horses. As an adult I have had even more exotic type pets like iguanas and ferrets due to my son's interest in this kind of pet.

I say all this as a prelude to my news that I have been asked to serve on the board of directors for The Humane Society in the nearby city. To be honest I had to give this a lot of thought. It sometimes is easier if we don't know all that is going on. It's easier to hide our heads in the sand and think that all is well but that certainly isn't the case with our pet population. We all know that there is an over population of unwanted dogs and cats along with other pets that people can no longer keep for a myriad of reasons.

So, I decided to take my head out of the sand and to try to make a difference. I know there are going to be situations that are going to upset me horribly that I won't be able to get out of my mind. I know this is going to involve a lot of work but I think I can do it. I'm going to give it a try, that's all I can offer. Pray for me that I will do a good job and have something to contribute.

Woohoo! I had a package on my front porch the other day when I came home and it was from Chyrll over at Chyrll'sCorner! She had a Give Away a few weeks ago and I won the Joy of Cooking cookbook plus tea, cider mix and Cafe' Delight french vanilla Cappuccino!! Thanks so much Chryll for having such a fun give away and I will put the cookbook to good use!!! I will be having a give away in a few weeks to celebrate my 250th post so be sure and keep an eye out for that.

I think my kids are worried about me. Sometimes I think they have good reason. Dear DIL came over yesterday to drop off some jewelry that I had ordered from a jewelry party she had last week, which by the way is gorgeous, I will be posting about it next time, but I digress....

Anyway she was chuckling at the 'Valentines' that I had sent T and D. T's was fine but D's was a BIRTHDAY CARD...........need I say more........SIGH.......

It's a beautiful sunny day today. I need to get out and do my errands, the bank, return a dress that looks like something Great Grammie Hessie would wear, go to the feed store and pick up some Slim Fast at the grocery store. I had a camera class this morning instead of a computer class. It was really good and I learned what a lot of the settings are for on my camera. Now I need a tripod. Always something.

Noodles is one of my best subjects to photograph. He is very patient with a lens stuck in his face. Well, sort of patient. I think that ear is cocked a bit.

Here she comes again with that dang camera!

Much better, very relaxed.

How about a profile

The innocent look, oh, I wasn't the one that caught that little bird!

Mr. green eyes.

Guess that's it for today. Hope everyone is having a good weekend in your part of the world!
If they can put a man on the moon why can't they fix Spell Check! It always worked for me so why fix something that 'ain't broke'!

You're just the kind of person needed to work with the Humane Society. You'll do great.

The cat is, indeed, photogenic.

The Humane Society is LUCKY to have you!!! I am a member of the ASPCA. It isnt much but what little I donate makes me feel good.

Noodles is quite the character! he is pretty :) I think he secretly likes to be a model...

Wee One wants an iguana since Mr. Fishy croaked....I think it may be a bit much for him and I to take care of properly. I think we'll get a goldfish instead.

Good luck in your work with the Humane Society. It would be hard to see that stuff.

I know about card screw ups. I gave my son a card for his birthday one year, he said I must have really liked that card because I had given it to him another year as well. What do you think the odds of that might be. Maybe I should be thinking about lottery tickets. lol

Wow - congrats on the Humane Society post. It would take a special person to do it and they surely have that in you. I wonder how your "family" will grow with you in that position? ~wink, wink~

You were cracking me up about the dress you were returning!

The cat is so photogenic and he almost seems to know it. LOL! What kind of camera do you have?

You'll do an awesome job at the Humane Society. They really need people who have the "soft spot" for animals as it is not an easy decision on what to do with unwanted, abandoned, mistreated, etc. animals. I know you will be a fabulous asset.

Great pictures of Noodles. Aren't the cameras amazing with all they can do these days? Keep up the great shots.

Our kids are concerned about us too but I always think that it is good for them to worry a little after all we did for them. HA!

I will be praying for you with your volunteer work with the Humane Society. That will be very difficult - both to know what is going on and to keep yourself from adopting every animal that no one else wants. I can't imagine.

Noodles is such a beautiful cat. I just want to scratch him behind the ears. I think the best time to photograph cats is when there is already plenty of light so that you don't have to use the flash - because they blink before the picture actually takes! It looks like that's what you did. Seeing those pictures makes me want a third cat so I can have one with stripes.

The cat's pictures are great - I should take a camera class. I know mine will do lots more than I know it can do.

I know you'll do a great job for the Humane Society.

Your wonderful and caring heart will be a great addition to the Humane Society Board.
You've really captured Noodles with your camera so well. Vincent and the camera are not very good friends..
Giving a birthday card for Valentine's Day sounds like something I'd do too. My mind is pretty scattered these days.
BTW, my spell check is working just fine. Hope yours is soon on the mend..
