Weekend Continued......Pats win.....it was a squeaker!!!!!

While we gals were wiling away our time perusing the many outlet shops at the mall the men were doing the Man Thing and enjoying the football game.  Not that I like to miss a good football game mind you but the call of certain outlets is just too much for me to miss!  You know you all know what I mean!  :o)  What is your favorite outlet?????

Mr. D bought this hat or whatever it is and wore it all day.

This is Son and one of the Patriot's alumni Joe Andruzzi and Mr. D has his Super Bowl ring on!

Three generations.

Hey! Is this the new Tom Brady?

It seems like once fall gets here I get the urge to cook more.  I love the smell of spices in the house and molasses cookies are the best for that!

You can see that the recipe card is well worn from use.  The original card called for melted bacon grease instead of Crisco!  I guess we don't all have a coffee can of bacon grease on the back of the stove like in the old days.

You mix everything  and then put it in the refrigerator for at least four hours until it chills.  The cookies just roll out much better if the dough is cold.

Next you need a couple of Rugrats to cut the cookies out for you!   :o)    Miss T and her friend from the neighborhood cheerfully obliged!

I have lots of different cookie cutters for fall.

Notice the flour on her face!

YUM!

If anyone wants the complete recipe just let me know and I will post it.  These are soft molasses cookies and are D-licious!

I have the inside of my house all decorated for fall but not much outside yet. Will get pictures tomorrow to put on my next post.  I L.O.V.E.  fall!!!!

Shop till you drop and other fun experiences!

It was a busy weekend here in the north woods.  Saturday was very hot and humid not the cool crisp weather that we have been experiencing lately.  The lawns needed to be mowed again and lots of flowers are still blooming although the gardens have lost their luster of summer.  Lots of things to be cut back once they turn completely brown and bulbs to dig up once we get a good frost.

Sunday we had a fun experience which I hope we get to do again some day!  The Hubs, Son and BIL had to go to Gillette Stadium and meet with clients at the Patriot's game and there was some extra room on the plane for DIL, Miss T, Mr. D and me!  Now this is not an every day experience as much as I would like that but we made the most of this time.  :o)  Mr. D is so excited because he was right near the soda and snacks drawer!

I did Miss T's hair on the way down, it is only a 32 minute trip so we were hurrying a bit, nothing  fancy this time.  She looks real thrilled at having her hair done doesn't she?!  She has an extremely tender head so any pull at all really hurts so I try to be soooooo careful.

I love this picture of DIL and Mr. D.  Does he look like his mommy or what?!

He wanted his picture taken with the plane which I  was happy to comply.  I do think they get tired of me snapping pictures all the time.  The pilots said he could have one taken in the cockpit but the men were in a hurry to get going so we were going to do it on the way back but Mr. D was pooped and just wanted to crawl into his seat and go to sleep.  :o(   He went to the game with the men and we gals went shopping at a nearby Outlet Mall.

The shopping was great!  We don't have much to pick from in our small area so it was great to get into some Serious Retail Therapy Shopping or SRTS for short.  I did mostly Christmas shopping but as you can see from the Chico's bag I did manage to find a few things for myself..........

Found two fabulous tops for DIL and they were on sale, music to my ears.....

Miss T was guarding the changing room door for mommy.

There was a man sitting on a bench with the biggest and I mean biggest dog I have ever seen in my life!  This dog was a quarter inch from being as big as the Guinness Book Of Records largest dog!  He was a lovely Great Dane and just loved everybody, his name is Goliath.  He caused quite a stir and we all were snapping pictures.  He kept trying to sit in his owners lap, now that is one big lap dog!

We were waiting for our ride and by the looks I think we were all shopped out for one day!  :o)

We had some extra time going back to the little airport as the men spent an hour just getting out of the parking lot at the stadium so we decided to stop at Cracker Barrel to go in the gift shop.  I love Gooseberry Patch books and they had a wonderful Christmas one that I snapped up.  I can't wait to try some of the recipes and  ideas.

Doesn't seem possible that Christmas is right around the corner!  I like to have all of my shopping done before Thanksgiving but I'm a little behind this year.  I did get my Christmas cards ordered and I did something that I have always said I would never do, I got them imprinted with our names.  Lest you think I am totally bah-humbug, I will put a personal note in each one in my own handwriting!  :o)

Have you all been noticing that comments are down?  I check my site meter and see all the people that stop by but not many comments.  Now we don't do this just for comments but they are so encouraging to get that feedback.  I thank you all that do leave them, I read every one and enjoy them all but if you don't have time to leave a comment I certainly understand.    Hope you all had a wonderful Monday and have a continued good week!  xoxox

Fall color and a dog named Brutus!

I love Fall as I know many of you do as well.  It really is my favorite time of the year with the pumpkin picking, apple picking, pies, and of course the changing of the leaves.  While out this morning with Dad I took a few pictures of  the glorious color that is bursting out around us.

I needed some kindling wood for the bonfires that we will have this fall when the church youth groups come up for their annual hay rides so Dad and I headed out this morning to get the task done.   There are lots and lots of dead pine trees that make for great starter wood and we had a few all picked out.  I followed Dad down the road with the chain saw, which we discovered was very dull, but it didn't stop us.

I cannot tell a lie, I was just posing with the chainsaw, I'm not even safe with a butter knife let alone a chainsaw.......... How do you like the faded hunter orange jacket?  Am I a fashionista or what?!  snicker snort~~~~

We finished up in no time and have enough to keep us going for a good long time.  We decided to ride up and see how the new road was coming along.  It's just about finished, just a couple more days to go,

Hey, who said these big tough contractors don't have a soft side?!  Look who was riding shotgun!!!  I don't think she weighs 5 pounds!!

We came home and I thought I would snap a couple of pictures of some new cone flowers that I just set out a week or so ago.  We had our yard man put the stones around the culvert as it was hard to mow around and he made me a little flower bed.

These are orange cone flowers, I was so excited when I found them at a nursery.  (You can see that it doesn't take much to keep me happy!)

These are yellow and they aren't as hardy as the purples and pinks so we will see how they do over the winter.

Flat Princess is on her way to the UK to spend some time with Linds at Rocking Chair Reflections!!  Can't wait to see what she gets into there!!!

The Travels Of Flat princess continue....

Flat Princess has been hanging out with me this week.  She thinks it is pretty quiet and laid back around here in the north woods.  I think I will saddle up one of the horses and take her for a wild ride through the woods and maybe she would like that!  :o)

Right now she is sitting on my desk while I do some work.  I think she is reading Pea's blog with me.

This morning I had to do a few errands so we swung by Ste*phen Kings house so that she could see the famous spooky gate.

Then I took her to see our other famous man in town, Paul Bunyan!  This is one tall fella and stands across the street from Hollywood Slots but I wouldn't let Princess go in there, she'd just lose her money.

I tried to get a picture of us driving along the river while stopped for a red light.

Friday I had a board meeting at the Humane Society and she went along with me.  She stayed in my purse during the meeting but afterwards got out to meet one of our cats that lives there.

Kitty wasn't impressed.

She would rather lay on the table while we are having out meeting!

Now who wants to be next to have Flat Princess visit them??????  Let me know via e-mail and I will send her right out to you!!

Later:
She is headed to merry old England next to visit Linds from Rocking Chair Reflections!  I'm sure she will have a wonderful time seeing all the sights!!! Thanks Linds!
