Tuesday Tales

Another day of sheet rock dust. Thankfully I was gone most of the day and the rest of it I was in Mom and Dad's apartment doing stuff. They are coming home on Sunday so there are things to be cleared out so that they can get in! It is so clean over there, I hate to leave. I keep the door shut between our house and their house so the dust hasn't permeated that area.

Things are coming along though. The sheet rock is just about all mudded (if that's what they call it) and the cabinets should be in sometime this week. My keyboard is kicking up dust as I type so I am sneezing my head off, my computer room is right off the kitchen and even with the door closed the dust gets in here. Snuff Snuff....

Today I went to Tar*get for some Easter basket stuff for T, D and Cousin K. They had lots to pick from but I like to get some things that aren't particularly for Easter. Found some ADORABLE beach towels. For the boys I got the ones with pirates on them and for Miss T I found one that has flip flops on it. You can't beat Tar*get for fun funky things.

Last week we had spring shots day at the stable. With the owner still out of commission and the other three horse owners at work I was on duty to hold horses for the vet. They all were soooooo good. The size of those needles make my knees weak but the horses don't seem to mind them at all. The one thing they don't like is the strangles vaccine that is blown up their noses. I can't say that I blame them much. I held the leads, put one hand over one of their eyes and Stu shot that stuff up there before they could blink. After the strangles outbreak we had several years ago we always have them treated for it. All of you horse owners know the nightmare of strangles and the long time it takes for everyone to get over it. We had 12 horses in the stable at the time and 11 of them got it and it was about 8 weeks before it was gone. All five of mine got it with Buddy being the worst due to his age. Thankfully everyone survived with only minimal scaring. I could put in some pictures but out of courtesy of the nonhorse people I won't, suffice to say that it's nasty stuff.

When our son was in jr. high and high school he participated in weight lifting as a sport (not body building). It helped with his football career and more importantly his confidence and healthy lifestyle. He participated in drug free meets only and they tested regularly so we traveled all over to find these meets. Now Cousin K is at an age where he has become interested in lifting and this weekend was his first meet. He has been training with Son as his coach, taking it very seriously and working hard.

Here he is with one of the meet organizers.

This was his squat lift which he got.

This last picture is my favorite as he had just completed his deadlift and was just sooooooo excited! The adult lifters are so supportive of the younger ones and really look out for them. Many of our family members were there to cheer him on and he was thrilled to receive a medal which he wore proudly to church the next day to show everyone.

I like the Extreme Make Over show that is on Sunday evenings. I find that the families they pick to redo their homes are well chosen. This last week was a family that rescues tigers, lions and other exotic animals that people have stupidly bought as pets and then can't properly take care of them. Some of the stories where the different animals came from were hard to listen to and I give so much credit to these folks that try so hard to make a difference.

Anyhow with all that said I couldn't wait to see the make over. I was glued to the set but also was really tired and trying not to doze off. It seemed like there were more commercials then ever and at each one I closed my eyes to just rest them a bit. You know where this is going don't you???

As those of you that watch the show know they always have a big bus in front of the new home and the people all yell MOVE THAT BUS! and the bus pulls away to show what has been done. Well guess what? The last words I remember were MOVE THAT BUS! and I was out like a light and didn't wake up till much later that night!! I was so mad, I wanted to see the house but also wanted to see all the improvements that they made to the animal habitats. They even had Jeff Corwin there from Animal Planet to supervise the remodel of the enclosures. Well I missed it all. All of it. Good grief! Gonna have to wait for summer reruns I guess! Sigh.....

That sheet rock dust seems to go just everywhere, doesn't it? You should be nearing the end of all the dusty part of it.
Our grandson's school is also drug free and they even have the drug sniffing dogs to double check!
K should really enjoy the weight lifting. I always think any organized sport builds lots of good habits.
I laughed at your falling asleep before the end of your show. That's one of my tricks, but we have tivo. Seriously consider getting one. You can go back and catch anything you miss, even live shows. I don't know how we managed without one!!
love you,
xoxo

I can really relate to the remodel of the kitchen. Although ours went so well, it is still a major pain to live through it. Thank heavens that you have a second place to go to with all of that dust. I know you will love it when it is finished.

You are so ahead of me on the Easter stuff. This has been a year where I have accomplished nothing and it is April tomorrow. YUK!!!! Oh well!

Glad that you were able to get the horses vaccinated. I remember the nightmares that you had. It is reassuring that it will not happen again.

I used to love watching EM. One of our old babysitters had their house redone by them and it was so much fun to watch that one. I know the resting of the eyes story all too well. Thank goodness for Ti*vo.

Life has been hectic and I have had no time to post and now no time to even read posts. Hopefully that will eventually improve but I really miss it. My uncle and a cousin left yesterday after flying out for a visit. It was wonderful to see them and a real thrill for my mom.

Have a great rest of the week. xoxo

Geez, don't you ever dust??? hehe I know it's driving you crazy but things seem to be going smoothly and you'll soon be enjoying a brand new kitchen!!

Your cartoon at the top of your post just about made me spit out my water...too funny!

Those towels you found for the kids are just too cute! We don't have Target here so every time Steve and I cross the border, we head for the Target there (Niagara Falls, NY) and I just love looking at everything and buying a few things:-)

I love how you take care of your horses and make sure they have all their shots and vaccines. I think I'd go weak at the knees as well seeing the size of the needles! lol

Good for cousin K on winning a medal at the weight lifting event! Love the look of concentration on that second picture! lol

Falling asleep before a show ends...yup, been there, done that! lol Why is it we always fall asleep near the end, just at the best part??? What I hate the most is watching a movie for almost 2 hours and then falling asleep in the last 5 minutes and not seeing how it ends. lol Love you lots!! xoxoxoxox

This past summer, they redid a house in Geneva, NY which isn't far from us. The paper was full of the makeover for a week or more. It was really cool.

They just finished redoing a house here in North Las Vegas. I don't think that has been on tv yet.

It's so cool that you are able to volunteer at the stable. I think I told you that I'm going to start to ride when I get home in April. A friend of mine has an adopted son from Romania who rides at a stable where special needs kids ride. Laurie thinks he will take me on. I hope so. I want to go slowly.

Have a great week.

I hope your computer survives the dust! And I hope you don't have asthma.

Love the towels!

I do that all the time - fall asleep on the end of something I really want to see - I always wake up when the next show is on. IRRITATING!!

I'm now DVR'ing anything I don't want to miss or may fall asleep on. Wonderful invention!

I don't think that sheet rock dust is good for you to inhale. The beach towels are very cute,it was nice of you to help out at the stable, I like horses but are intimidated by their size. Have a nice day.

Sheet rock dust is the worst!

I can't wait to see pics of your new kitchen although I thought your old one looked great!

I totally know what you mean about the money it costs for a team to go on a mission trip. But I can tell you without a doubt that those trips have revolutionized our church in terms of mission giving. It is amazing. Personally I have only gone on one trip, to Brazil. I'd love for my husband to go back to Peru for the dedication of the building he's worked on, but it's not financially possible for us this year!

Boy, am I ever behind!!! First of all, I loved the cat cartoon! ha-ha

You are in a mess, I can see, but it will be so worth it when it is completed. You will be so happy with your new kitchen! It will be beautiful and so functional, too!

Great reading about the weight lifting! Kids need things like that in their lives. I had to smile when you said he wore his medal to church. He was proud of his accomplishment and rightfully so! Bless his little heart.

I know what you're saying about falling asleep and missing the end of a show. I've done that so many times! I could kick myself everytime! LOL
