Merry Christmas!!

I was in a local restaurant last week with one of my sisters having lunch. We had a nice waitress and when we got ready to leave we wished her a Merry Christmas. She whispered back Merry Christmas. We asked her if she was forbidden to say Merry Christmas and she said yes we are supposed to say Happy Holidays so that we won't offend anyone. My nice lunch just turned in my stomach.

Since then I have asked each sales clerk and waitstaff that I have encountered if this is the case and so far 99% of them have said yes. What is wrong with this picture?! We have gotten so politically correct that we are offending ME and many other Christians in this country!

Today Funsize sent me something about this very subject and I have to pass it along to you all.

*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.*
*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*
*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
* Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*
*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*
*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,
not Happy Holiday !*
Please, all Christians join together and
wish everyone you meet during the
holidays a
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!

Thanks for listening! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I think it's such a shame. I have heard so many people express their concern for this issue in the last few days. So sad.

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas!

I am so sick of hearing "happy holidays" that I could scream. It is so un-PC to say "Merry Christmas" these days. I saw a great bumper sticker the other day that said "We say Merry Christmas." I wish I had it on my car!

We got a good storm last night and today with 1 1/2 inches of rain - so far, but cold. Today's high was only 49*. I have spent the day inside working on sewing projects and absolutely loving the time.

I am slowly getting caught up with Chritmas coming next week. Oh dear. I still need to do my cards.

Enjoy the week, my dear friend. Hugs.

Oh, my goodness, that toffee looks like it would melt in your mouth!

Come over and see the button I got to wear when I'm out shopping (which I haven't done much of lately!) It is very sad that we have come to a place in this world where we have to be afraid to wish people Merry Christmas. So sad!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Nothing will ever stop me from saying it:-) I know, though, isn't it a shame that it's come to this...it's just gotten plain ridiculous. If someone ever tells me they're offended by my saying Merry Christmas I think I'll tell them..."get over it"! lol Love you! xoxoxo

That's pretty much the pits if you ask me. But then they're not worried about what I think, only the miniority. Very sad state.

My dear sister passed me the link to your journal and instructed me to catch today's post. As my sisters and I had our day out for lunch and shopping today, we encountered the same thing as you with "Merry Christmas" being taboo. For years now, it has been my mission to wish everyone a Merry Christmas as well as inform stores disallowing "Christmas" in their ads that I'll not shop with them. The politically correct won't be happy until our religion is locked quietly behind our church doors. Then how will we spread the gospel? Thank you for taking a stand.

We have some cool buttons in our church that say, "It's okay to say Merry Christmas". Even some non-Christians I know are sick of this PC "Happy Holidays".

I say Merry Christmas everywhere I go.

Jesus must be so sad.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, & GOD BLESS YOU! I think that is what's wron with the world today. Nothing to hold on to! I say happy holidays only because it isn't quite Christmas. I am certainly not afraid to say Merry Christmas! How sad, so sad.

It is dire. At our school in the Uk, the kids were only allowed to sing the 12 days of Christmas. No carols. I am appalled. How long are we going to put up with it?? Merry Christmas! Keep saying it!

I think it is time for people to get back to the reason for the season which is Jesus.I will always say Merry Christmas and not be ashame.

I'm with you on the Merry Christmas thing.

Santa Claus all over the place doesn't seem right to me either...there is too much focus on Santa and not the reason for the season, Jesus.

And I'm Jewish.

Thank you for passing this along, it is a sad note when they could not say Merry Christmas. I did not know that people in stores and restaurants were not allowed to say this but now I realize that Happy Holidays is the official greeting.

A very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Well, I think, if you've been wished a Merry Christmas, it should be returned. Good grief! The 25th is Christmas, afterall!

I can understand that not all people are Christians and may not celebrate, but to be offended by a "Merry Christmas" is beyond me. I don't think you should participate or celebrate Christmas if it is a problem for you to acknowledge where this holiday originates from. Just say thank you if someone wished you a "Merry Christmas", but please don't make it a bad word that should be whispered. How very sad for the rest of us who have no problem with the original meaning of the holiday and awnt to celebrate Christmas with out feeling outlasted by Christmas haters.

That was quite an article!!! It really does make one wonder what this world is coming to. I will always say Merry CHRISTmas!!!

Great post!!! Wishing you and yours a very Merry CHRISTmas!!!! We need to keep Christ in CHRISTmas...

I'm late to the party but WHAT A GREAT POST! I hate this happy holiday stuff. Jesus IS the reason for the season!

Just had to comment on this topic. I found one card in a package that said "Happy Winter". Unbelievable! I think only about 2 in the bunch said Merry Christmas. I was so disgusted.
I just want to say to those who are offended by 'Merry Christmas', "Just what are you celebrating, anyway?" Without Jesus there wouldn't BE a reason for the holiday!
So, dear friend, I just want to say, Merry Christmas!!! I'm glad you enjoyed celebrating the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour!
