Random Friday

This is my 346th post. 346! Where in the world did I come up with enough stuff to talk about for 346 posts?! Talk about a yawner! Thank you to all of you that have stuck with me through the ups and downs of life here on the hobby farm. Mostly ups thankfully, I am truly blessed. I still miss Buddy though. Don't know when I will totally get over that, maybe never, but again I am blessed to have had him for so many years. :o)

Thank you to all of you that validated my feelings about the Vic*toria's Se*cret pictures blasting us in the face at the mall. I'm glad I am not the only one that finds it distasteful to have boobage plastered all over the place for all to see. This VS is right by one of the sitting areas in this mall, how embarrassing to sit there beside some little old man who needs a drool bib from staring at the pictures? Oh I could go on and on. But I won't. You're welcome.

Took Mom to the Doctor yesterday for a follow up appointment for her knee surgery. She is doing well, the incision looks great and is healing properly. She got her flu shot and I thought I was going to get out of it, having just had pneumonia you know, but nope they gave me one too. It itches today but doesn't seem to be very sore. Rubbing your arm at the injection site really makes a difference. Have you all had your flu shot?

For some reason my link to Jo-Lynne's holiday gift guide is not working so if you want to get to it just go to her home page at Musings of a Housewife and you can get to it that way. There are some unique things, I ordered some things yesterday for stocking stuffers. Also she is giving away FOURTEEN things! She has the most give aways of anyone I know! We all do love our give aways don't we?!

Marcy over at Marcy and Scott's tagged me for a meme. I haven't done one for a while so I'll give this one a whirl. I'm supposed to put down seven things about myself that you don't know. After 346 posts there probably isn't much you don't know but I will try!

1. I love Dis*ney World! We have been going there since my son was 18 months old and he is now almost 33. My parents live fairly close to DW so we always had a place to stay and a car to use during the lean years!

2. Tinkerbell is my favorite Dis*ney character. She is so sweet and I love it when she sprinkles pixie dust around. I could use some pixie dust today.

3. Fall is my favorite season. The colors of the leaves, the cool crisp air, no black flies, what's any better then that?

4. This is probably TMI but I have alopecia areata. I have four bald spots on my head, two quite large and the other two about the size of a quarter. I have thick hair so I can cover it up quite well but it isn't fun. I am having injections in those spots to hopefully make the hair grow back and it seems to be helping. This came on when Buddy got sick.

5. I love funky socks. I like them for the different holidays (thank you Pea for the Halloween ones!) plus ones with dogs, cats, horses, you name it. I hit the jackpot yesterday at Dress Barn as they had a whole new supply just in!

6. Hubby and I worked in Awana at our church for over twenty years. It is the youth program. We worked in several different capacities over the years and loved every minute of it.

7. I don't particularly like to drive. I do drive and go anywhere I want to go but if there is someone else that wants to do the driving I am more then happy to have them do it. I get very sleepy driving on the interstate so that kind of scares me a bit.

There, now aren't those just the most exciting facts you've ever read?! lol! Now let's see who can I nab for this one...........how about:

Pea
Needled Mom
Hippochick
Renie
Callie
Mrs. Mom

If you've already done this one just disregard or if you just don't like doing meme's totally disregard! :o)
We got our final tally on our Paws On Parade fundraiser and can you believe this, after everything came in we raised $42,000.00! YIPPEE! That will help take care of lots of little homeless animals!!!!

Are you all ready for Thanksgiving? Has your list been made for the grocery store? Do you cook ahead and freeze things or do you fly by the seat of your pants the morning of? We are going to have about 20 this year and everyone brings things and helps with the set up and clean up. DIL's Mom, Dad, Sister and cousin K are going to be with us this year so we are excited about that. T and D always love having K here to play with. Wish the ponies were still here so that they could have a ride but they are at the stable. We'll probably make a bonfire in the fire pit in the afternoon. The kids love that and I will have some marshmallows to burn to a crisp! They burn their marshmallows and then want ME to eat them! :o(
Patti over at Nonna's News is having a wonderful give away! She is giving away three different Christmas cd's so we all have three chances to win! She will be drawing the winners on Dec. 1st so get your hat thrown in the ring soon!!!

Guess that's it for Random Friday. Hope this finds you all well and happy. During this season we are all more aware of things that we are thankful for and one of the things that I am thankful for is all of the wonderful friends that I have met during this time of 346 posts! Even though most of us will never meet in person we have made friendships that will last forever. I am once again reminded of all the kindness you showed me when we lost Buddy. Your kind words were a big help to me during that time of sadness. We also laugh together which is great fun. We compare our shortcomings and hopes for the future. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

congrats on your 346 posts! I too can't believe how time flies and the great friends I have meet as well! I enjoy visiting and hope you keep it up for another 346~!

I guess I missed the VS rant. But I do have to agree that sex is everywhere and it is very distasteful the way it is done. Really we all have boobs, we know it and the men know it, do we really have to have it posted everywhere in half dressed women!?? That is why they send catalogs, or so I would think. But I don't agree with alot of the adversting or TV for that matter. Off soapbox now. Sorry!

Thanksgiving, I will work on my menu this weekend. Hubby brought home the turkey from work yesterday, it is huge! They give one every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I try and do as much as I can before hand, so I can relax and not be in the kitchen all day!

Enjoy your Friday!

WHOOHOO!! 346! Go Mom! ;)

Thanksgiving... oh boy. I kinda cheat... we are helping out and eating over at the in-laws. Since Dear Husband is Chef Du Jour, he gets to do a lot of the cooking these days, as Mom can't be on her feet for too long. Me? I get to wash dishes..lol.. a LOT!

I'll work on that meme and post it in the Daily Journal. That ought to be a blast!

MM, have an incredible weekend there. On a side note real quick, I know how much you miss that amazing horse of yours, since I too have one I miss like that. But as long as we remember and keep them alive in our hearts, it helps!

HUGE Southland hugs to you all!!!

I'm glad you did the meme! I love crazy socks too! I am wearing black socks with hot pink pigs doing the hokey pokey today!! Tinkerbell was my mom's favorite Disney character. She has such attitude, doesn't she?! I hope y'all are staying warm. We have been having lows in the low 20's over night and it hasn't been above 60 all week long!

I loved this post. I was sure that many would agree with you on the VS rant. There other stores I could add to the list, but won't.

I have tears thinking of Buddy. When I was vacuuming the furniture today I found a "Frazier hair". I said to Jim that I still miss him so much, even after three years. What a good boy he was.

Sounds like your Thanksgiving will be fabulous. Ours have changed so much since my mom passed and Jim's moved to an assisted living facility. This year, we will be with our Las Vegas kids and that will be fun.

Stop over to my blog tomorrow and read about some of my Thanksgiving memories, (that is if I get my carcass around and get it written today).

Like you, I am so thankful for all the friends I've made this year in blogland. I feel like I know so many of you.

In the meantime, have a blessed Thanksgiving. I will work on the meme after Thanksgiving.

I am feeling particularly foreign at the moment - I have a) never been to America, b)never been to Disney anything and c) never had Thanksgiving! But that doesn't mean that I am not all caught up in everyone's lives either. Thanksgiving seems such a wonderful holiday to have. Here, we are all caught up in the pre Christmas rush already - there is nothing to deflect attention after the summer!

Have a wonderful wekend!

I've so much enjoyed catching up with your posts today.
I agree wholeheartedly that the VS ads are distastful!
Glad to hear your mom is healing well. Yes, I got my flu shot recently :)
I'm so sorry to hear you had pneumonia and missed the 2nd trip to FL. Hope you're feeling much stronger now. It must've knocked your (funky) socks off!
Yes, blog friendships certainly are amazing.
Enjoy your family get-together this Thanksgiving. I'm sure it'll be wonderful!

Wow, 346 posts, and the ones I have read were always interesting, with great pictures! I'm not even near 200 yet, at the rate I mosey along, but it's enjoyable.

I agree about the booby posters plastered all over. Fortunately, rural areas aren't "lucky" enough (not) to have a VS store.

I'm so glad your Mom is doing so well. Thank the Good Lord for that.

I did this meme a couple of months ago, but if I can think of stuff that no one knows about me, I may do it again, after the holiday, okay?

Sounds like you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am not quite ready for it, but getting there. Have had a very busy week preparing and sprucing up the house a bit. My daughter and family arrive Sunday evening, my younger son and his girl friend will come on Tuesday, and two dear friends who are alone, will join us on Thanksgiving Day as well. So it will only be 8 of us, and I'm so looking forward to it.

I am thankful for all the wonderful blogging friends I've made in the 15 months since I started blogging as well.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I'm at 387, but have been doing it longer than you - good info about you -

We will only have 10 here this year (well 12 with the twinnies), so that will be really small compared to other years. Everyone will bring something - I'll do the turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy, and rolls.

I love fun socks, too, but need to get some more. Sorry about the hair problems! I get sleepy while driving, too. It does get scary.

That is a whole lot of information in 346 posts - way to go!

Totally agree with you on the VS rant...

Glad your mom is doing better!

And I'm with you on the driving! I like being able to drive because I value my independence, but if someone else is along, I'd just as soon they drive.

Can't wait to go to Disney World or Disneyland with Esme! Definitely one of the perks of having kids - it gives you a good excuse... :)

First of all, congratulations on your 346th post...I must say every one of them enjoyable:-) I never notice how many posts I'm up to, should look one day! lol

Would you believe I've never had a flu shot in my life? I'm one of those people that don't believe in them. I never get the flu, only a head cold once or twice a year so I've never found the need to get a flu shot. I know I may regret it one day but so far in my 51 years I've never wanted that shot! lol

Loved reading the 7 things about you meme...I think I've done this one before as well but I'll try to think of another 7 things about me that you might not all know. I'm just so normal, ya know?? lol

Wow, you guys sure raised a great amount of money from the Paws on Parade Fundraiser, that's fabulous!! Just before I came on here, I had the mama kitty and 2 kittens inside to eat again...poor things needed thawing out but once they're fed and warmed up they want to go right back outside:-)

I think I'm going to cross the border on your Thanksgiving Day so that I can celebrate it all over again! hehe Sounds like you're going to have a full house...I so wish I could be there as well!!!

Here's to another +346 posts from you:-) Love you! xoxoxox

I was up early today making my crescent rolls for our dinner at church this evening. I thought of my tutorial post I did last year and wondered if you had ever had a chance to make them. They're so light and airy and fluffy. I can't re-post the tutorial, because of my stupidity at deleting all of my Flickr pix in a panic after I had to go private. ARGGGHHHH!!

That is a LOT of posts. You are a great blogger. It is always so much fun to read your posts and find out what is going on in your life with the family.

I will have to post the meme when I get a chance. Life has been sort of busy lately. DUH!

We have the gang all here for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately we have rain forcast for the entire week so think everyone will be trapped inside for the celebration. Oh well, we'll all have fun anyway.

I took my mom for the flu shot a few weeks ago and got mine at the same time. Taking care of her would be difficult if I was worried about exposing her to the flu so I get one each year.

Glad that your mom is doing so well. Is she glad yet that she had the surgery? It always takes a while to be thrilled that the pain is not longer there.

Have a wonderful and thankful week. I am so thankful that we became such good friends. xox

346 is a lot, isn't it? I hit 350 a month or two ago and not sure how I managed that either!

Would you believe we were just at the mall yesterday and there, in blaring color, was Victoria baring her secrets. I saw my very wholesome husband glance there only because it was SO hard not to when it was in your face! Ugh.

Anyway, hoping you have a wonderful Thanksgiving week.
(And if you want to enter into my giveaway, and post my button in your sidebar, let me know!)

WOW! 346 posts! It will take me years to get that many the way I've been going.

I miss the Victoria Secret thing, but I am still reading...started backwards again...reading from Present to Past! LOL

Glad your mom is doing so well! I know she is, too!

WOW! You sure raised alot of money in your Paws Parade! That's wonderful! Yes, that will help a lot of unfortuante little animals. Our shelter should do that here, but they get so much donated.

Keep up the great work and post another at least another 346! I don't even have 100 yet! LOL
