Friday's Fall Decorating

It sure didn't feel like fall today if the way I was sweating is any indication.  Now that's a classy first statement isn't it?  Just keeping it real.  :o)   I have been cleaning out my flower beds, the annuals are pretty well gone by and it's time for them to go into the compost heap.  This wasn't the best summer for annuals as it was very hot and dry despite my gazillion waterings but the perennials have done well and the fall things are still in bloom.

My cone flowers have just about taken over my whole veggie garden patch so I decided they had to go.  I hate just throwing away something as pretty as they are so I dug them all up and planted them in the field in hopes that they will like it there and beautify that area.  Thankfully my yard man was available and he dug the holes and I planted them, the digging being the hardest part.

Tomorrow is supposed to rain so we won't get finished but I have many more things that I want transplanted. We have lived here over twenty years and things do tend to get crowded and overgrown and need a good clearing out at times.  Just like the clutter in our lives, I don't know about you but sometimes I feel like my time is taken up with so much clutter that really isn't all that important when there are things of more importance that I could be concentrating on.

Paws On Parade is coming up on October 9th and those of you that have hung in there with me over the last few years know that that's our biggest fundraiser at the Humane Society.  We have been working on it diligently but sometimes I wish I had taken even more time to scout out possible business sponsors and put up even more posters.  The money raised makes life better for so many unwanted pets; dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds and myriad other critters.  You name it, we get it!

Speaking more positively I will say we are ahead in number of walkers then we were last year at this time and contributions are up a bit.  Now I am going to vent.  Why do people tell me that they are going to make such and such donation and then don't?  Several new sponsors that I found gave me their word that they were going to give X number of dollars and I haven't heard from them since.  I would rather they be right up front about it like some were and just say we can't do anything this year, I can understand that and tell them so.  At our business we get inundated with requests and we can't give to them all but we don't tell them we will and then don't.  Okay, enough venting.

THEN there are the ones that I almost hate asking as I know the business climate isn't that great right now but they come up with a wonderful donation!  One in particular touched my heart and I almost cried when the check came in.  You can bet your bippy I will be sending people their way to give them more business.

I finally got my fall decorating done, at least on the inside of the house.

I found this cute little runner at TJ Maxx.

I grew these in my garden, I just love Japanese Lanterns.

This is on the door that goes into Mom and Dad's apartment.

Have to pick up some more pumpkins for outside plus some mums today.  The nursery that held the fundraiser Art In The Garden, Sprague's Nursery, is presenting the check to us today so I will get them there. They said the press is going to be there, YIKES, what do I wear??

Just back from Chicago and catching up here. Your fall decorating is gorgeous! I need to get serious about mine. I can't believe it is the first of October already. When did that happen?

The trip to the Pats game looks like it was a blast. What a fun way to travel - so relaxing, unlike the airport stuff these days.

The kids looked like they had fun too. Such wonderful memories for them!

We had a great trip and came home with loads of laundry. Guess what? The washer decided to stay on vacation!!! Grrrr.

Lots to catch up on so will talk later. Good luck with the P on P!!!!

I love your fall decorations - the house looks so warm and cosy! And Flat Princess has arrived, and is getting over the jetlag as I speak. She will be out on adventures this weekend, if the rain ever stops!
I looked out the window at the garden, and I can't believe how much work there is to do out there. You are right - all of a sudden everything needs yanking out, transplanting etc. And the garden furniture needs washing and packing away too..... so much to do!
Have a great weekend!

My word, how did I miss three posts?? Ridiculous! Your house looks gorgeous - just think I'll see it soon!

The cookies look and sound wonderful - your recipe card looks like some of mine. I can't imagine bacon grease in cookies!

Well, talk to you soon!

This is a busy time of year trying to get everything outside cleaned up and thinned out. Our flowers took the heat this summer very badly. The only thing that really flourished was my one rose bush. Your decorations are so nice. I love fall colors.

Just make sure you don't have spinach in your teeth like I did when you face the press! lol Hopefully everything went well when you received the cheque from the nursery:-) I know what you mean about it ticking you off when a business tells you they'll donate and then they don't. I remember when I was doing volunteer work at our bowling center, twice a year I had to go to various businesses to look for donations for fundraisers and a few let us down when they'd said they'd donate:-( Phooey on them!!

I just LOVE your Fall decorations, everything looks so warm and welcoming. I have to take all mine down next week because I have to empty out the living room before it gets renovated. Don't know why I didn't think of that before I decorated! lol I'll be going away on the weekend of the 15th but when I come back I have to start painting...ugh.

I've just come in from putting away all of my faerie decorations/statues from my faerie garden, as well as the other garden ornaments. It's a cold but sunny day so just perfect:-)

Love you dear friend. xoxoxoxo

P.S. I'm sooooo jealous that you and Dawn will be getting together!!!! hehe

I love the decorations. I have never been a decorating type. My kids are animals and would destroy everything. I hope you don't mind I borrowed a couple of your graphics. If you do mind, I will not use them! I don't know if they are ones you paid for etc..
