Friday Night Sew In and other updates.

The sun is shining this morning which is so nice as it's been gray and overcast all week.  The temps are better too, seems like a heat wave.  I don't have to wear so many layers when I go to the stable to see the boys.  Skipper seems to be okay.  The vet will come on Monday and meet with the farrier to go over his feet.  He seems much more comfortable with his toes trimmed back and even went out yesterday with Kipper and played in the snow.  No more episodes like the one earlier in the week.  We just don't know what happened.  Don't know if we ever will but we are waiting for several blood tests to come back that may give us some information.  Thank you to all of you that have prayed for us this week!

I have been trying to get back into sewing regularly.  Several of you belong to the Friday Night Sew In so I have been doing that unofficially along with you.  I must get signed up but haven't figured it out as yet.  There has just been too much going on this week to concentrate on anything remotely confusing.  Will get to it though.  What I worked on this Friday is a simple Dresden Plate table topper.  My DIL made me a Christmas one that I love so decided I would try my hand at it and make some horsey ones.  This is the Christmas one and I set either a candle on the middle or an arrangement.

This is the one I made out of horse fabric.  I have lots of horse fabric that I have picked up whenever I see some.

Isn't this fabric the cutest for the horse lover!?

This one says rodeo.

I want to thank Valerie, her mom Alice Grace, Granny and Needled Mom for inspiring me to dust off the sewing machine and getting to work!  I have several other projects lined up that I will be putting in the Friday Night Sew In, some complicated and some not.  I don't always think it's the complexity of the project that's fun but just being in the sewing room and enjoying what you're working on.

Speaking of horsey things,  Funsize gave me the cutest set of votive holders for Christmas.  Guess what they are made out of........yep...... horseshoes!  She found these while on a trip at a Crac*ker Barr*el.

Then DIl came over last night and brought me a gift that she picked up while she and son were in Texas!  It's a set of salt and peppers that she found in the gift shop at the hotel!!  How cute is that?!

Guess I need to get a few things done as tomorrow is going to be taken up with vet and farrier appointments.  Munchie has to go in and have her yearly shots and check up.  She doesn't look too concerned about it does she?!  :o)

Oh where oh where has my spellcheck gone,  oh where oh where can it be???  What is that song really about????  The first one with the right answer will win a prize!

LOL I usually sing it to the tune of "Oh Where oh where has my little brain gone... oh where oh where can it beeee??" Not much help in the ACTUAL ID of the song but thought you would get a kick out of it!!

Love the horsey fabric! That looks so neat! And of course, the horse shoe ornamentation!!! Perfect!!!

Rubs ot all the critters there! And big hugs to you and the family!

Oh you are so sweet to say that we inspired you! My Mom challenged me to spend 30 minutes a day in my sewing room and I have been trying to do that and it really works. Now if I can just get her to do it! Ha! The sew in is lots of fun, isn't it? I actually had someone at church that thought I was having a sew in in my home just from my blog. I would love to do that though. If only all of you lived closer but the sew in makes you get in there and get busy. That Friday night I was so tired from working hard but I made myself get in there and sew and I had so much fun just knowing that all of you were sewing too.

Love the table topper! It seems like a pattern you can make a few of, with different fabric themes, and change them on your table seasonally. Very charming.

I love all of your horse fabrics. I know our kiddoes would love them too.

The horseshoe inspired goodies are fabulous. I know you will get lots of use out of them. Isn't it fun to collect something like that?

Glad that you have had a less eventful few days. You really needed that. I'm glad that all are doing well. It will be nice to get the reports tomorrow and move on with life.

I'm so glad you are going to join in on Sew In. The group has really grown. Our next one is going to be in February so I will be sure you have the link when it comes out.

Well....it is raining here. Yeah. I know the weathermen will only find the problems, but this is SOOOOO needed.

Have a good week ahead, my friend. Soon we will be in the sunshine and enjoying the OR. XOX

I love your "horsey" dresden plate topper! That is so sweet! I am glad things are looking better there with the horses. I have been thinking and praying about the problems you have had. I am proud Valerie is taking my advice about spending 30 min. in her sewing room, and I keep telling her I would take my own advice if only I were home during the day! I really do better than she thinks tho. LOL I think the last I saw the Friday night Sew-In has grown to over 100 bloggers!

I don't know about horses, but I do know that my cat looks very unconcerned until he sees the carrier.....then it's a "catfight". !

You are inspiring me to sew. I am really in the mood, but I'm not taking my machine with me to Nevada and I don't have time to do much before I leave. Oh me! The busy life of a retired lady.

Loved this post - as usual. Hope all is well with Skipper.

~hippo hugs~

Oh where o where has my little dog gone? Oh where can he be? With his tail cut short and his ears cut long. Oh where oh where can he be?

I received the cookbook. It is fabulous. I'll do a post about it soon.

Thanks.

Now I know what I'll do to my scale next time I'm on it and it lies to me about my weight!!!! hehe

Isn't it unbelievable to have this mild spell after having such frigid temps? I'm sure not complaining, though, it's nice to have a break and makes the winter seem that much shorter.

Glad to hear that Skipper seems to be doing ok now. Hopefully the blood test results will answer some questions of what went on with him.

Just love the Christmas table topper your DIL made for you, it's gorgeous, as is the horsey one you made! Such talent in your family!!! My mom still shakes her head at me that I didn't get her sewing "genes"! lol

The candle holder, as well as the salt & pepper shakers are so perfect for you! Anytime I see anything to do with horses, I always think of you also:-)

Hope everything went well with Munchie at the vet's for her shots. She's such a beautiful cat. Is that stray one in your barn still around? Are you able to pet it by now??

Well I must start on supper, can't believe how fast the day went! Doesn't help that I didn't wake up until after 9 a.m.!! That's not me, I'm usually up by 6:30 but it sure felt good:-) Love you to bits. xoxoxo
