Kitchen redo, The Early Years

Some of you have been asking about my kitchen remodel so I thought I would put in some pictures that I have been taking. There really isn't much to see yet except a big mess but here we go.

Who in their right mind would take a perfectly good kitchen (with some working issues too long to list) and tear it apart and live in sheetrock dust (with asthma) for a month? You guessed it.........me.

The contents of the kitchen are in my dining room, living room, foyer and Mom and Dad's apartment. Needless to say I can't find anything!

The whole kitchen is gone now.

Removing the old floor to put down the new subfloor.

New floor is down except for the grout which they did the next day.

The cupboards and appliances Have Left The Building. No, that's not Elvis. Guess you wouldn't get the previous statment unless you are an Elvis fan.

Starting the sheetrock and the plastic they have put up to help keep the dust out of the rest of the house. Well Blogger wouldn't upload that last picture. Go figure.

So this is where we stand at the moment. Being a little OCD by nature the mess is like running your nails down a chalk board but we shall prevail and it will be worth it in the end. That is my mantra now, it will be worth it. it will be worth it, it will be worth it! :o)

I well remember those days of when we had sheetrock dust e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e!
Also the "can't find anything" blues!!
You're right, of course, it will get better and then you'll love your new space!!

love and hugs!

OMIGOD WHAT A MESS! hehe Are we having fun yet??? The workers are actually coming along really well with your kitchen, I didn't think they'd have that much done already! Love your new floor!! I know it's a real pain having everything all over the place but think of the fun you'll have putting everything back! lol Hang in there and keep saying your mantra....xoxo

I know this is a big dusty job, the reason for this is my sister had her whole kitchen ripped out and the kitchen ended up all over the house, but it was worth it, her kitchen looks so nice. It looks like yours is coming along pretty good, have a nice weekend.

I think your kitchen looked amazing but I can understand the need to remodel. The kitchen is the heart of the home. I hope it all gets done and over with soon! *hugs*

We have built several new homes, and I just love this kind of stuff! I love the picking out stuff and all the mess! In the end, it's beautiful!!! The wait will be well worth it! You'll have your kitchen done before I get my little guest bath finished! LOL I did finish the painting around 2am this morning. Getting ready now to go in and tear up the vinyl and then tomorrow use adhesive remover to soften the glue so I can scrape it all up. Then next week (or the week after, you know me...LOL) I will start the ceramic tile. I have lots of little helpers trying to get in every time I am in there!

Look at your mess this way....when you get it finished, you will have your Spring cleaning all done in the kitchen! All those new cabinets will be so organized and clean!!! It will be beautiful!!!
Thinking of you.....hang in there! LOL

((( HUGS )))

It WILL be worth it. We only repainted and painted our cabinets and I thought I'd lose my mind. My thoughts are with you.

I"m not saying I am enjoying the snow, just that I'm thankful for the moisture! I can't wait till spring weather comes back. But then, this is what spring is here in crazy Colorado!

My question was if some of that lush looking foliage was kudzu, like they have in Georgia, S. Carolina, etc. It came over from Japan and has become a real problem in the south. Just curious.

Thanks for the nice long comment!

I would take my kitchen apart in a heartbeat to have the cabinets & countertops modernized somewhat. Besides, I hardly ever cook anyway these days - LOL !!!

Hopefully it'll be over soon & you'll reap the rewards of it all!
