The cold is headed our way!!!!!

My dear friend Pea over at Pea's Corner has awarded me this lovely award! Thank you so much Pea, it always makes my day and makes me smile to get an award. I am always so touched when someone bestows an award on me and I would like to pass it along to:

There are so many more that I could pass this along to. All of my blogging friends inspire me in different ways and make me smile. I have made some amazing friendships over the past couple of years here in Bloggityville! :o)

I got a call from a friend that had been left numerous quilts by a relative. She asked me to come over and take a look and see what I thought. It was so much fun. The relative did meticulous work, most of the quilts were all done by hand with tiny, even stitches. Some were finished except for the binding, some were just tops, some weren't quite finished but all were beautiful. I wish I had taken my camera so that you could see them. One of the quilts took her two years to finish with all the applique that is on it. I need to call the quilt shop and see about getting some appraisals done as some of the quilts are very old, early 1900's.

Funsize sent me this list this morning and I can relate to almost every single one of these statements!

Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about New Englanders...

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May, you live in New England .

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you live in New England .

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you live in New England .

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you live in New England .

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of New York City for the weekend, you live in New England .

If you measure distance in hours, you live in New England . (hahaha! always do this!)

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you live in New England .

If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you live in New England .

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you live in New England .

If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you live in New England .

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you live in New England. (have done this many times!)

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80 and everybody is passing you, you live in New England .

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you live in New England .

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction, you live in New England .

If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car, you live in New England .

If you find 10 degrees 'a little chilly', you live in New England .

If there's a Dunkin Donuts on every corner, you live in New England . (Yummy, slurp, drool, burp! Sorry Mrs. Mom!)

We are bracing for the coldest weather that we have had in 13 years. I have watched the temperature drop steadily and it is only 9:30 in the morning. I have filled all my bird feeders, taken extra food out to barn kitty, put out extra food for the turkeys as they will all need more energy to keep warm in the extremely cold weather.

This is a day in the life of Munchie: Sit outside in the bird feeder hoping that a bird will fly into her mouth.
Come inside and sleep on D's pillow pal.

If that gets boring sleep under the pillow pal. Life is rough.

Keep warm everyone! :o)

Thank you so much for the wonderful award. I will post it on my next entry. I am so honored.

Brrr. It does sound like you are going to get a blast of raw winter there. My relatives in Iowa have been hit with it and they said it has been brutal with no immediate relief in sight.

Loved all the Jeff Foxworthy "ifs." He is so good at those. It is amazing how right on he is so often.

Life remains a circus here. Mom is still in the hospital and no one is saying how much longer. I know how much she needed this so I am comfortable that she is finally getting the best of care.

Fortunately, the weather has been delightful with temps in the 80s. It is a little windy, but just perfect for me. I am always a happy camper when I am warm enough. :) Did you see that the Miami temps are in the 50s with wind chills in the 40s today?????

Have a good week and stay warm. xoxo

MM, that Jeff Foxworthy list was JUST what I needed to see! LOLOLOLOL Thats wonderful!! I remember the pot holes, the 10* is just chilly, and the Dunkin Donuts with fondness. (And relief that I dont have to deal with any of that any longer! Cept the donuts..lol And you know how I feel about donuts! lolol)

Thank you for the award too. It means a lot coming from you!!!

I hope this cold front blasts through and by you all QUICK. It is even affecting us here in the Southland- was down just under 30* overnight, and headed into the low 20's overnight the next few nights. It actually feels pretty good to this Hot Flashin Woman! hehe

Y'all stay safe up there. Don't freeze off anything you need later! ;)

That pillow of Munchie's looks SO cozy...I wish I could do curl up on it!

So many of us (in North America) have been having record cold spells this winter...we did too in December. So bundle up and stay warm, dear friend!

Thanks for the award. It means a lot coming from you.

I think I've seen this Jeff Foxworthy bit. Too funny.

Munchie does look to be enjoying the perfect cat's life.

Sorry to hear about the cold heading your way. The national weather reported looked like a lot of the country is getting the same.

What a beautiful award! Congratulations!

Love Munchie's pictures.

It is 13 F this morning in my neck of the woods, but with the wind-chill it is 0! Brrr.

Lovely post. Stay safe and warm!

Hugs,

Renie

It is -23 degrees here today and miserable! It's days like this that I wish I had a nice fireplace to cozy up next to.

Midlife Mom,

It is freezing here and has been for two days now. I do hope you're not going to get the frigid temperatures that we've had.

I see where Pea posted pictures of ice fog. I did as well. It is really cold when ice fog moves into the area, but it turns everything into a winter wonderland.

I'm glad you are keeping the barn kitty, the birds and the turkeys fed. They certainly will need the extra energy. Last year many turkeys froze to death where my uncle lives.

Take care, my friend and stay safe and warm.

Blessings,
Mary

Thanks so much for this award. I just hate it that I have to be private, but I appreciate the honor very much.

I have a Colorado thing like the one you posted today - so true. I'll have to share it soon.

Stay warm! I lived in that kind of weather in Minnesota, and walked to school in -40, before the days when they calculated wind chill index! But I must say I don't miss it.

Congrats on your award! You deserve it!

Keep warm my friend! BRRR!!

It is in the teens this morning and supposed to stay that way. You should see me bundled up to go feed! I'm a sight, but I'm not cold! Horses don't care!

You are more than welcome for the award, my friend, and congratulations to the people you passed it on to:-)

How fun it must have been to inspect all those quilts! I so admire those who know how to quilt, that's something I've never learned. My mom never quilted and as for my gran, I don't recall her quilting either. I feel soooo deprived! lol

I so love Jeff Foxworthy, he's so hilarious! That list is a real hoot! hehe

Omigosh, that is too funny the way Munchie is lying in the bird feeder!!! LOL Now that's a smart cat! hehe

I just can't get over how cold it's been the last few days...seems like it's affecting a lot of the States as well. I had to go out to buy the groceries this afternoon and it was quite the feat trying to get home fast so that the fresh veggies and fruit didn't freeze in the trunk!!!

Stay warm dear friend!! Love you! xoxox

Hello midlife mum, You live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world and I am thrilled to be visiting you here today even if it is way too cold for this Nanna who is in the middle of a summer holiday here in Australia (smiles) I have been to Kennebunkport a few times and could move there tomorrow if only I could!!!

I will enjoy visiting you again, so very much as your blog is lovely.

The cold is here!! Love the list. Got a couple 'Mainer' lists filed somewhere. I always joke that we only have 3 seasons: winter, mud, and a summer, which is held on July 4th so as to have a cookout, parade & fireworks every summer.

Don't have the chain stores here, but the local stores are pretty much the same. We DO have a Dunkin' Donuts in the next town over.

I measure distance in hours too :)
Love this list!
Your kitty has the right idea...napping on the pillow, that is...not sitting in the bird feeder :) Ours like to sit on the trays sometimes too. Getting a birds eye view..but nothing else :)
Great pics!

Loved the list of ifs.
We managed to warm up for the weekend and it was so wonderful.
I really did enjoy your video.
We have turkeys around here but now near that many at one time. They look like they truly enjoy your gift.
God bless and stay warm
