What a day we had today at the Humane Society! We did our second cat spay/neuter day for low income folks and had 89 cats come through! Yeah! That's 89 that will not be over populating the area with unwanted kittens, some left to fend for themselves and not having a happy safe life with a loving family. With vet care getting more expensive all of the time like everything else, we are going to try to do this several times a year. Cheers the four vets that gave of their time and abilities to make this all happen, also to the many volunteers that came in to help us out!!
I had the best job. I was the post op person that the cats were handed to after they had their procedure done. I wrapped them in a soft towel, checked their number and crate, then gave them to one of our many cat cuddlers that held them until they came out from the anesthesia. This has proven to be beneficial to them and allows us to keep a close eye on each one. The tenderness that was shown to each one overwhelmed me, these are true animal lovers.
It was a busy place with three of the vets working in one room. (One of the vets, Dr. Benson did his share a couple days ago.) We all learned a lot as they were more then happy to explain things to us sharing some of their knowledge.
I had another lovely time this week when not one, but two packages arrived in the mail for me from Alice Grace at Thoughts Of Home containing my PIF surprises!! Thank you so much Alice, I just love everything that you sent. You put so much thought into everything and even thought of my granddaughter which pleased me to no end. You are a very generous person!!!
Beautiful floral fat quarters. Already know that I am going to make a table topper out of these.
A quilting themed note pad.
Adorable shoulder bag for Miss T. complete with horse fabric. She loves it! It looks like leather but is actually fabric and can be washed.
This is going to make a perfect wall hanging for Miss T's room!
I love this reversible apron! Both sides are beautiful!
126 squares of Moda fabric!! I think I am going to make something special for my lake house with these!
Thank you Alice!
Congratulations to Canada for their nail biting win in hockey at the Olympics! What a game!!

Everyone of you, helpers and vet's are hero's to me...God bless you for taking such sweet care of his little creatures! Wonderful gifts too, you deserve it! Come say hi :D
I thought of you last night MM, when I was out calling Kitty Biscuits to come in for the night. Apparently, there is a BIG KITTY who has taken up residence under our porch. Big. Kitty. The hardest part? I can not possibly take on one more living creature right now, and I feel incredibly guilty about that. I'm assuming it is a tom, from the size of his jowls, but from his body size alone makes me think he might have some Maine Coon cat in there. That is a BIG CAT.
*sigh*
If I can catch him, I'll have our vet do a neuter and rabies shot (in exchange for some pony trims.) There are so very many cats around the lake right now that we don't know what to do. However, it is not just the sheer numbers: oh no. About two weeks ago, a rabies positive cat was found not that far from here. A second was found out near a client of ours, about thirty minutes away.
Enough whining about that though. God willing, there will be a way to help maybe some of the kitties around here.
Cant wait to see what you create from your beautiful new fabrics!!!
I'm going to go cuddle Kitty Biscuits now ;)
Much, MUCH love from our little corner of the world to all you guys up there!
I love the pictures from the spay-neuter day. God bless you all.
That was such a wonderful project and it does look as though those cats had nothing less than the BEST of care.
Wow!!! What wonderful mail you received. I love that French General line of fabric. The apron is adorable as are the totes and stitchery. Alice really did go out of her way to find the perfect gifts for you.
Did you end up getting any of that storm? It looked as though it headed out to sea, but wasn't sure.
Wasn't that hockey game something? Overtime, no less. I guess I have to be happy for Canada as it was their Olympics!!!
Have a wonderful week, my dear friend. Hugs!!!
Such sweet pictures. Enjoy your PIF gifts. Alice is such a sweetie.
I am so glad you liked your PIF gifts. I chose things that I thought you might like.
The Kitty Cats look so sweet and loving. And what a wonderful group of people caring for them!
What a great idea...a spay/neuter day! You are really blessed to have so many people ready to give their time and expertise for the cause! I think those are 3 very wonderful vets!
God bless you all for helping out with those animals like that! I love all your beautiful treasures you received!
What a busy day at the Humane Society!
You're right - I am very tired from all the days of child care. They are so precious, but it is wearing. I long for the day when Kristen is strong and healthy again.
I think Growing Pains changed their beginning look every year or so, but I did see the picture not long ago.
Wow, 89 cats, that is a lot of surgery. Julie is right you are all hero's, helping those cats. Especially the ones that have to go back out on the streets. That was some package you received from Alice, I especially liked the apron.
Hi Friend,
What a nice post. My company is gone and I'm hoping to catch up in the next couple of days.
I'm with you in congratulating Canada for a wonderful Olympics.
~hippo hugs~
Oh my Mom is so good! She is the sweetest thing ever. She is the most thoughful person that I know. Enjoy your gifts!
Helloooooooo! I'm finally here, been playing hooky from bloggy visits to go play outside!! lol It's just been gorgeous the last few days and supposed to continue like this all week. It's in the 30's right now which is mild for us at this time of year and will be in the high 40's by the weekend. Woohoo!!
Awwww I'd love to be a kitty cuddler! Such a great idea to be holding them while they come out of the anesthesia. You really do have a wonderful group of people there and I so enjoyed seeing all the photos. They need to set up a program here for neutering and spading like you have. As you say, it certainly helps with the overpopulation of cats!!
Such beautiful goodies you received from Alice!! I look forward to seeing what you make with the fabric squares. I can well imagine how thrilled Miss T was with that purse, it's so delightful.
I hope this week has been good to you so far. Love you to bits. xoxoxox
Blessings to all of you Taking care of Gods Creatures:) what a day!
such sweet photos you got too!
Ahhh...I would have loved holding all those cats.
Every one there is to be commended for the time and care spent toward these animals.
