Story Land 2009

It's been a while since I posted anything. The nice weather that we have had scattered here and there has kept me outside enjoying the sun. We are back into a rainy pattern now, it's just amazing how much rain we have had this summer. It has really hurt the tourist industry and probably will for some time to come. Who wants to come to Maine if it's going to rain practically every day? This is unusual though so hopefully it won't scare everyone off for too long.

Hubby and I decided to take the grands on a little day trip last week. They have been wanting to go to Story Land in New Hampshire so we took off about 7 AM Friday morning. It's about a four hour drive with a few pits stops on the way. We were armed with umbrellas in case it rained but it was sunny and hot, just perfect!

We walked around looking at all of the sights and going on the rides. Well, except the ones that get you soaked! I can do without walking around the rest of the day in wet underwear!

See the fake horses?!! Back in the day they had the real thing.

We rode inside the pumpkin.
I remember this spider from years ago. You set on the stump and the spider comes down. Actually you set on the 'tuffett' as it's about Little Miss Muffett!

Poor Grampie got elected to go in the twirling turtles! I would have barfed!

One thing they had fun learning was how to milk a cow. You had to pull just right to get the water to come out and they got pretty good at it, good enough to squirt each other in the face!

Guess that's enough about Story Land for now. It's a great place to take younger kids, very clean, safe and lots to do. When we were taking Son at that age we always stayed overnight at a motel nearby but seeings as Son and DIL were leaving the next day to go to Boston we wanted to get the grands home the same day. We got back about 7 PM. Everyone was tired but it was well worth it. Oh and BTW whoever invented the dvd players for cars should be paid a mint! They sure come in handy on long trips! :o)

WHOOHOO!!! Excellent time in Tundra Country! ;)

Looks like everyone had a blast there, and was able to enjoy some SUN.

Headed for more rain I am afraid though- watched the weather channel this morning, and they are talking about an east coast soaker coming soon. All I could think was "Oh Crap! MM is going to grow FINS!"

Hugs all around up there!

It looks like such a neat place to take kids. I love the spider that comes down. I am with you on that spinning thingy - I would have barfed too!!!! Good for R that he could do it.

Please send some of your rain our way. It would be so nice to get a good storm.

Looks like a grand time was had by all at Story Land. Love the pictures. Your grandkids are adorable!

Our weather has been heavenly. Pleasant temperatures with lots of sunshine, with intermittent showers to keep the trees and plants nourished, and I am enjoying it as well. Getting ready to go to the cabin now.

Hope the rest of the week is sunny in beautiful Maine.

Hugs,

I won't tell my hubby that you were at Story Land... it is one of his favorite places in the world.. we took the kids there dozens of times.. and yes, I remember when they had real horses!!!! also, did you know (I am sure that you did) that the carousal there goes in the "wrong direction" and is one of the few in the world that does.... It goes clockwise, while most go counter clockwise!!!!!

What a fun day for you and the kiddoes.

Sorry about the rain again - Kev is worried about the winter if it's so cold and wet in the summer this year!

I want to go thereeeeee!!!! I just love places like that, no matter how old I am! lol Loved seeing the pictures and it certainly looks like the kids were having a great day.

We had rain yesterday but today it's sunny again...I just don't know what happened to the 5 days straight of rain that had been predicted. I'm sure not complaining though! lol I heard on the news that the tourist industry is really suffering here too, mainly campsites and such because of the cool and wet weather we've had so far this summer. Hopefully August will be better than June and July was!!!! Love you! xoxo

Glad you had a decent, sunny day for your outing. What a cute place. You could see fromt the pictures that they were having a good time.

I sure hope the summer of 2010 is dryer and sunnier in Maine as we are tentatively planning a trip to Acadia with our friends Linda and Jason. Jim and I were there eight or nine years ago. It rained that whole week too, but we didn't mind.

We stayed at a hotel called the Claremont Inn. We had just a fabulous time. Going back will be bittersweet as my dear SIL has since passed away. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to going back and seeing Acadia again.

Okay, once again I going on and on. It's hot here in Las Vegas. We are hoping for a little break from the heat next week while we're at camp.
