Weekend Recap

Another beautiful day in paradise! The rains have stopped, the sun has come out and the sky is a beautiful pale blue with fluffy clouds drifting by. Too bad it hadn't been this way when Hubby's relatives were here on vacation. They got about three days out of the whole vacation when it didn't rain. They made the most of it though and did lots of fun things and ate lots of great local food. Now they are back in VA and Penn. and we won't see them again till October when we go to Nephews wedding.

My friend Ann and I went trail riding on Wednesday as we always do. Once again we had traffic to deal with but made it okay. We have to go on the main road to get to the trails.

As always we took the guys to the river to play. There's a nice boat landing so we don't have to worry about getting mired in the mud.

Some of the trees are starting to turn already.

This is an old barn that we go by each time we ride. They have cleaned out the inside and have events there such as wedding receptions.

This is a shot of some of the other horses at the stable. This pasture goes right down to the river.

We finally got a day to go to our cottage. They have been few and far between this summer as we have had lots of other commitments on the weekends. We took a long boat ride all around the lake. These are my toes (blush, blush)!

When we first got there the boat wouldn't start as someone left the bilge pump on. We had to charge the battery and then we were off and running.

This is looking out from the lawn. We are in the 'narrows' that connects the two large lake areas.

You can hardly see our tiny cottage nestled in the trees.

This is the only cottage on the lake smaller then ours! ha! Actually it is an ice fishing shack left from the winter.

There are lots of big rocks on our lake so you have to know where you are going. Some of them you can see and some you can't. We have taken out our propeller several times! :o(

We went by FIL's place. Looks like no one is staying there this weekend.

It was just a glorious time and Dad fed the boys so we could stay even longer. We had 8 friends staying at our place this weekend and I was so glad they got good weather.

Now it's off to church and then we are meeting old friends for brunch at Muddy Rudder. They lived here for years but have retired and moved to Florida. They are here visiting family for a week.

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! :o) Funsize is in Ireland on a vacation!!

So glad you're getting some nice weather again. Loved "riding around the lake" in your boat. Such a gorgeous setting and the color of the lake is just beautiful. I also loved the shadow picture of you riding! What a great effect!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Love you!

Oh, and that cottage of yours is so beautiful....and um, NOT tiny.

The photos are great and I really like the one of the horses shadows. Very cool!

Sounds like the perfect "lazy days of summer" weekend.

The cabin looks gorgeous. I'll bet you wish you could spend so much more time there. Glad that you managed to ge the motor running as it looks like those passengers were eager for a boat ride.

I can't believe that the leaves are already changing. It's hard to think of it being almost September other than seeing the days getting shorter. Boo hoo.

Hope that you have continued great weather for this week. Hugs.

What a beautiful weekend you had. I love water and envy you your lovely cottage.

I didn't so much like the pic of the "turning tree". I'm just not ready for this summer to end.

Have a great week. Oh yes, the shadow picture was really cool.

What a beautiful spot to spend time - I know we'd have a hard time getting to a cottage, if we had one! DC would love to have one in the mountains, but it just doesn't seem practical. I know - practical isn't always good!

Sounds perfect. the trip on the boat looks like so much fun, glad you were able to charge it and get it going.
That is so crazy that the leaves are changing already, just doesn't seem like it should be the end of Aug already.. I want summer to last longer

Oh, I loved the trip you took us on this week. We used to have a boat and I grinned at the part about the bilge pump being left on. Did you ever launch and forget to put the drain plug in? Ha! Riding, boating and having family and friends to share a beautiful summer weekend with are what life is all about. The leaves aren't turning in Ohio yet but the light has changed. You can tell that fall is just around the corner even though summer is in the eyes.

Loved the pictures of the lake and pasture with the horses, and hey, you even showed us your tootsies. You daring woman you! LOL. What a beautiful lake, and lovely cottage. Not all that small, either! I know you all enjoy it. Those rocks look beautiful in the water, but I imagine you do have to navigate the boat carefully around them. I enjoyed your weekend recap, and by the way, the sunset in the post below is to die for!

Hope your week is going wonderfully well. I'm off to meet some friends for lunch today.

Hugs,

Renie

Seriously, what a perfect, relaxing week for you and your family!

I just posted part 2 on our short camping trip and when we met the nice people with their horses, I honestly thought of you.
