Lobster, crabmeat and steamers, oh my!

It must seem to you all out in Bloggityville that we do an awful lot of 'seafood eating' here in Maine. Well it's true, especially in the summer when we can go to our favorite haunts and enjoy the beauty of the coast along with the delicious food.

Sunday after church the whole family headed to the Lobster Pound for our annual reunion that we have when our southern cousins are in town. We look forward to the together time as much as the to die for seafood and we are never disappointed. I think there were 27 of us on this trip. Son, DIL and the grands were in Bar Harbor for a convention and couldn't make it this year but you can't be in two places at once.

The weather was gorgeous, sunny, warm and a nice breeze. This is a shot of the rocks that I posted a few weeks ago where the two gals were when the tide came in and they had a near mishap. You can see how deep the water was to cover these big rocks!

There were lots of pretty boats moored in front of the restaurant.

My niece Jo-Lynne (dcrmom) and her beautiful family is here from Pennsylvania.

One thing you'd think I would learn and that's not to stand beside a beautiful, slim, young woman! Way to feel old......sigh........

We cracked up as we discovered we have the same Fossil handbag except for the color! Great minds think alike they say!

There was a young man trying to get airborne with some kind of kite thingy but he didn't have much luck. There just wasn't enough wind.

Lots of ducks swimming around. Bottoms up!

My friend Pea over at Pea's Corner is having a nice give away this week. All things blueberry! Go on over to check it out and throw your hat in the ring but don't be disappointed when I win!! heehee!

Guess that's it for tonight. I'm really behind getting around visiting everyone as we had such a busy weekend so will try to do as many as I can now! :o)

I love the pictures. The seafood sounds wonderful. We are planning a visit to Southwest Harbor and Acadia in September. The lobster is calling me.

Great post.

Well now, here i was thinking that it was MANDATORY that if you live in Mane, you HAD to eat loads of seafood. Which, along with the snow and cold you get up there, I can never live in Maine! (I have a terrible fish allergy. Bad bad bad BAD. If it lives in water, it could kill me all too easily.)

Love all the duckbutts up in the air! LOL Too cute...!

Your niece is gorgeous! The scenery is very lovely. The food looks good - but I have not a great love of seafood. Maybe if it was good and fresh like it is out there. But you do look like you have a lot of fun eating together!

Oh, my goodness, those rocks - do those girls have any clue how close they were to total disaster??

Just catching up on all the news.

The ballgame sounds like it was a fun event for the gang. Triplets? I'd say they were busy! I'm sure that teenage triplets are almost as much work as babies.

The seafood sounds wonderful. I'd take advantage of heading there as often as I could.

Hope that your weather is better this week. You guys have had so much rain.

Your seafood just sounds so wonderful. The ocean is my favorite place on earth and I can tell you love it just like me. Wouldn't it be fun to share the beauty of "our" oceans with each other!
Loved seeing the photo of your sweet smiling face!
love you!

Well, I'll have you know that I had lunch in a new Mexican Restaurant, the other day, and had a delicious shrimp dish! So there! LOL.

All that seafood and beautiful scenery is making me a bit envious. I guess people in Maine are just pretty darn fortunate to have access to all things delicious and beautiful scenery as well. And you look great, standing next to your lovely niece! A very young looking grandmother, for sure!

I always enjoy visiting with you. Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Hugs,

Renie

What a fun blog again today! Your beach photos remind me of our Pacific beaches, in some places being very rocky, like yours. My family used to dig razor clams in season off the coast.

Great photos. I'm sure the seafood was delicious. I have been to Maine and love the lobster. I'm not so found of oysters or clams.

The ducks with their bottoms up are cute. It's nice to watch ducks and geese as they search for food.

The family reunion sounds like a lot of fun. It's always nice to see the people that we can't visit on a regular basis.

Enjoyed my visit, as always.
Blessings,
Mary

I LOVE the coast! And that kite surfing is serious business! My hubby loves it, though he struggles to get up a lot, too. Takes way too much talent for me - not to mention I can't swim.

Aren't family get togethers the best thing there is:-) I really miss having those since my 4 brothers and their families all live so far away. You do realize you're going to be growing fins and scales pretty soon with all that seafood you've been eating? hehe I'm not crazy about seafood but give me Chinese food every day and I wouldn't mind at all! lol Loved all your pictures, you look just as beautiful as your niece!!!! Love you! xoxoxox

You all seem to have the best restaurants....maybe you should bring some of those recipes and open one up down here. It would be a huge success!!

Which color purse is yours? I'm guessing the yellow??? LOL

I'm not one much for seafood...but I do love haddock. I've tried lobster and shrimp...made me feel queasy in the stomach. Maybe I ate too much! LOL

You look GREAT standing next to your niece!!! You sure don't look like a grandmother!!! Her family is just beautiful!!! I'm originally from PA myself!
