Another week has flown by. Summer is fast fleeting here in Maine. There are actually some leaves that have turned to gold and brown down in the pasture. A sign of things to come. Today is T's riding lesson which I always enjoy then on to a lunch appointment and back to the dentist. I find that I am clenching my teeth at night and it's making my jaw hurt so they took impressions yesterday and made me a guard to wear at night. That ought to be a sight!
My friend Tina, one of my very first blogging buddies when I started this whole thing has given me an award. Thank you Tina! That is very special and I have already put it on my sidebar! :o) It doesn't seem possible that it has been almost two years since my first shaky attempts at writing a post. I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to do this as I have made so many wonderful friends that otherwise I would have never met! Thank you to my niece Jo-Lynne (Musings Of A Housewife) who has been my biggest supporter and helped me tirelessly with all my questions!
This is the resident dog, Diamond. He always greets us when we arrive for lessons.
Lesson is over, time to dismount!
Someone sent me a story about this mother bear and her five cubs. The man that discovered them waited hours to get a family picture and was lucky enough to get a follow up the next spring! Aren't they incredible!? I guess it's unusual for a mom to have so many cubs. I don't know if these pictures were taken in Maine or not but they look just like our Maine black bears. How would you like to meet them on the walking trail? This has been happening in the town next to us recently. Several hikers have met up with a mom and cubs. Yikes!

I've had several meetings with the Humane Society board. I must say that I am enjoying it despite getting out of my comfort zone once again. We are working on one of our major fund raisers called Paws On Parade where people bring their dogs and do a 45 minute walk earning money for the society by getting sponsors. There are prizes, T-shirts, tv coverage and a lot of fun. I have been busy putting up posters at different kennels, vets, stores and other businesses. I don't have a dog so I told them I would have to bring a pony! Actually I have asked one of my little nieces to bring her new Yorkie puppy named Newman to walk with me.
Another family get together tonight, this time at the lake. My nephew is getting married and this is their engagement party. The wedding will be help in Myrtle Beach N. Carolina in the fall which we plan to attend. I have always wanted to check out that part of the country as I have heard that it is lovely. I will have camera in hand tonight to get some pictures at FIL's lake house. It's a beautiful spot and has some of the prettiest sunsets you'd ever want to see. Hope the rain doesn't come in AGAIN! It has been rather icky weather the last two weeks while our southern family has been here which is very unusual for this time of year.
The farrier was here last night and did Buddy's feet. They are looking good after his bout of laminitis last summer. That is encouraging, now if we could get the colitis cleared up he would be in great shape! I am trying Bio Sponge on him so hopefully that will do the trick.
Our Miss Pea made this button for her readers, isn't it cute! Thank you dear Pea!
T had a great lesson yesterday! She cantered for the first time!! She was so proud of herself! This is the resident barn cat. He was lounging on the hood of the owners truck. By the looks on his face I don't think he appreciated being disturbed to have his picture taken.........

Way to go T!!! Cantering? That is awesome!
Glad to hear Buddy is doing so well. I wish Bets were doing so well.
Enjoy the lake and party!
I certainly would not like to meet up with that family of bears. Yikes!
T looks so pleased with herself after her lesson. I'll bet that she will miss the riding for the winter too.
I am glad that Buddy seems to be holding steady. I know how difficult this has been on you guys.
You will have a fun at the engagement party. I can't wait to see the photos from the lake.
Congratulations on the award. You have done so much with your blog in the last two years. WOW! I blame you for getting me started. :)
Have a great weekend. Hugs. xoxox
It'a beginning to feel like Fall here in Upstate NY too. I love summer so much. It makes me a little sad. I hope the leaves don't turn too quickly in Maine as we are coming in mid-September.
One of the things on my bucket list is to take some riding lessons. Plan to start in October after our vacation. I doubt I'll be as easy on the horse as T.
Loved the pictures of the bears.
~hippo hugs~
Pam
we had such a long winter here in montana.. not yet ready to let go of summer
great shots of the "herd" :)
gp in montana
WOW that is incredible. I hope to visit maine one day. It seems so beautiful.
The bear family is very cute, but I'd like them to keep their distance!
I'm glad we're both blogging and have connected - isn't it just so much fun??
Cool pix of the bears! How rare is that! (except maybe in a zoo... )
'T' looks pretty proud of herself And she should be! Thanks great!
You always have great pictures! I really like the one of the bears! I wouldnt want to meet up with them! lol
Have a fun weekend!
Patti
Congratulations on your blogging award! Yours is always a fun place to visit with such great photos, posts and graphics :)
T looks pleased as punch after her lesson!
That mama bear and her "quadruplets" must be a real rarity. They're not something I would want to meet up with on a dark evening!!
Have fun at the lake and I hope the weather cooperates. I know you'll have lots of pictures to share..
Love you,
xoxoxo
I had to wear a night guard for a couple of years because of clenching my teeth while sleeping and it really helped. Not pretty but it helped! lol
Congratulations on your well deserved award, my friend. You deserve all of the awards out there:-) Your blog is such a fun place to visit and I just love you to bits!!
Glad to hear that you're enjoying working with the Humane Society board...best of luck with the fundraisers. Wish I was there to help you out!
Hope you had a great time at the engagement party last night. AND that the weather cooperated!! We're finally getting some sunny weather this weekend...it's been raining every day for the last couple of weeks here as well.
T is doing so well with her riding lessons...good for her:-) She is going to be a terrific rider like her grandma!! Well I do hope she doesn't fall off like grandma does! hehe
Wow, that bear family is something else. Usually they'll have two cubs, not five! How lucky to be able to get a picture the following year of the same family!!!
Have a wonderful weekend:-) Love you!! xoxoxox
I agree, the weeks are just flying by these days. Our weather has been delightful though, but we could use more rain. Wish you could send some rainy weather to the Ozarks.
Paws on Parade will be great fun, I'm sure, and what a great cause!
Your pictures are always great, so I look forward to the ones from the lake house. Oh, I have a dog that looks just like Diamond, but it's a female and I call her Sydney.
Your little granddaughter is just adorable! And a real horsewoman now! :-)
I have seen a black bear in my woods, but never with cubs. I am not too enthusiastic with meeting one with or without cubs, although I'm glad they're living their wild lives in the woods. The photo of the mama with the five cubs is wonderful!
Delightful blog post, as always. Have fun at the lake house!
Hugs!
wow! look at those bears! just amazing! Enjoy the lake and the party! You are very deserving of your award! I just love coming for a visit! The cat is pretty cute too!
oh and T looks to be be doing GREAT!!! Yeah for Buddy!
Is it me, or does the Mama bear look a little tired? LOL I bet keeping up with five is a little challenging for her, but apparently she's done a great job with them!
Hope you're having a great weekend! :)
Isn't the summer flying by? At least we had summer temps today and plenty of sunshine. T is such a cute little 'horsey girl' :) She sure looks like she enjoys her riding lessons.
What great pictures of the mama bear with her cubs! Meeting up with them would be scary for sure!
I envy you all that delicious seafood.
Glad you're having some fun with family. Let's hope for a warm and drier September...and a nice long fall.
I'm so glad to read that your Humane Society meeting went well. I've been thinking of you, and hoped that you felt at home. You're going to be a great asset for them, sweetie!
Loved the photos of all the two and four-legged creatures in your life! That grin on T's face, after dismounting, is priceless!
Have a great week.
Wow! If I met up with those bears I would panic! But I have to say, they are beautiful, at least from a distance!
You will love Myrtle Beach when you come for the wedding, it is beautiful there.
Great for T! She looks so happy and pleased, not to mention just plain cute! Congrats on your award! And those bears are the cutest!
Way to go T! HOw exciting!! Keep it up!
Love the resident barn animals! I would say the cat wasn't happy either! LOL!
Glad Buddy is doing so well with his feet!
Congrats on your award!!!
Little "T" Is beautiful What sweet pictures! And all those bears! Oh my! I too would love to go to Maine! In the Fall, I heard the changing of the leaves is gorgeous!
T is just adorable....way to go on the lessons!
Hard to believe summer is coming to an end. Here in SC the weather is still balmy, but fall is right around the corner.
The bears are scary, but pretty.
T looks like a pro rider.
Loved all the pics...this is always a great place to visit!
Hugs,
Diane
Hey, I love the bear pictures! I haven't seen black bears since we were in Yellowstone a few years ago. I remember learning to canter. I hadn't tightened the saddle enough and I slowly slid, saddle and all off to the side. Ha! I have been in the process of preserving an older blog of mine before I delete it from another site. I am AMAZED at how far I've come, too. LOL. Have a great day in Maine. The light here in Ohio has changed a bit and I know fall is coming soon. In a few weeks, I am going to get some unbelievable pics of Sunflower fields. I'll post them when I do.
T and that adorable smile!!! She looks so happy after every riding lesson! You know she is loving every minute of her lessons!!! You are just so fortunate to have those little grandchildren!!!
Oh, that clenching teeth can be bad. My daughter was wearing the backs of her teeth off doing that. She ended up having 6 of them crowned.
Good luck with the Paws on Parade fund raiser!!! That sounds like a fun event!!!
The bears....WOW! We had those back in PA, too! A mother bear will protect her cubs, no doubt about that! They usually only have 2 cubs...maybe she adopted the others??? Great pics!!!
