This little piggy went to market........

This is me and Funsize trying to get some last minute tan while riding in the boat.

We ended up the summer season with a bang on Saturday. We had a pig roast at the lake and it was a gorgeous day. The sun was shining and it was in the low 80's, just perfect. I wasn't sure I would be able to eat the pig where it didn't' come in a cellophane package from IGA but it smelled so good I had to try. It was delicious! It was tender and the flavor was unbeatable. We all brought things to go along with it and there was enough food for an army so no one went home hungry.

Fresh onion rings cooked outside, salads, desserts, baked beans and some one was kind enough to bring this item.........ahem......

The lake was just perfect albeit rather cold from our 40* nights. That didn't seem to bother the kids, they were out on the tubes having the time of their lives just flying around that lake! I love how the sun was shining on the water as they were tubing. (Note pictures at the beginning of post because Blogger is driving me crazy still)

We are going to be gone the next few weekends so we decided to take the docks in and pull the boat out while we had a big crowd to help. Love those aluminum dock systems that just snap apart and roll out of the water. It was out and put away in 20 minutes! The boat is back here in town at the boat place for preparation for winter storage. It seemed weird taking everything in when it was in the 80's outside but by the time we come back it could be down in the 40's and the water very COLD!
We are getting ready to go to Texas next week. All arrangements have been made for the boys. Funsize will come in the morning to feed, let them out and do chores, Dad will feed them at 4 pm then Funsize will come back after she gets out of work for evening chores and some riding. We have a friend in the neighborhood that has a horse at the stable where I board in the winter and she is going to check in on them and maybe do some exercising during the day. I think they are covered!
Guess that's it. I am determined not to whine about Blogger this time............well not much! :o)

I think I could eat it better if someone brought me the meat without the visual affect!

The water looks lovely and what a great time you had - those onion rings must have smelled amazing.

Yes it seems like you just started having warm weather and now it's time for cold again!

I know what you mean about summer ending. I was looking at my potted annuals this morning and they look ready to be tossed.

The water is cold in Kansas too! What happened to summer? We had a pig roast in a pit in the ground - that was good stuff!

I've had pig like that and you're right, it's really good. The pictures were wonderful. I especially like the pedicure picture. I know what you mean about it feeling odd to take things apart while it's warm, but we all know that fall is here, like it or not.

Have a great trip to Texas. It will probably still be pretty warm there.

I'll be checking in on you when you return home. Have a good trip.

~hippo hugs~

P.S. Please pray for Faye (Dutch Gramma) they are going through some tough times.

Omigosh....I've never seen the whole pig being roasted like that...don't know if I'd be able to eat it! lol Oh yummmm, onion rings cooked in the country cooker, I love that and we do it often:-) My one weakness is onion rings, I'll order that over fries any day!! Looks like a great cookout and a wonderful way to end the Summer.

We've been getting beautiful weather over here, they type of weather we should have been having in June, July and August!! Our veggie garden is still going strong and we're now giving stuff away...soon the neighbours will refuse to open the doors to me! lol

Have a great time in Texas, behave and take lots of pictures! Ok, ok, you don't have to behave but do have FUN! hehe Love you lots!! xoxoxoxo

I agree with Dawn that I don't want to see the whole pig, just my plate! It looks like a great weekend! 40's at night????? It is still hot here in Florida, but not so sunny lately!

Oh yum!!!! That pig looks fabulous. Where is the apple????

What a wonderful way to end the summer at the lake. It looks like it was perfect weather and everyone appears to be having such a grand time. Now it's off to Dallas and a few more warm days before fall sets in for you guys.

Oh, go ahead...complain about Blogger. I can agree with every word you write. I have received a lot of good hints, but it means that I will be blogging completely different from the way I do it now. I'll need to be more organized, I guess.

Have a wonderful and safe trip. Looking forward to hearing all about it when you return.
