The kids had a great time on their vacation in Vermont. Unlike here there was plenty of snow there to play in. They stopped at the Ben and Jerry's factory on the way and enjoyed seeing everything and tasting the samples.
The next morning they were ready to ski!
Mr. D was exhausted after being out all day but Miss T and Daddy went up to the top of the mountain a few times! This is the view from the top of the chair lift.

DIL doesn't ski but was on photographer duty all day. She did get to enjoy the tubing with them.
Thursday already. I have been so bogged down with paperwork concerning the lake house that I've hardly been able to do anything else. Let me just give you a word to the wise, make an inventory of everything in your home or summer property and put it in a safety deposit box! You never know what is going to happen, fire, earthquake, floods, frozen pipes etc etc and you will need to fill out all of these papers. We were lucky, the things were still there, just ruined, but we were able to go in and see what needed to be on the list. 'Nuff said. :o)
DIL and I went out and spent about three hours pricing new furniture one day this week. A little overwhelming when you have a whole house to do but we had fun and I think we picked some things that will look nice once the cottage is back in shape. Not sure just when that will be but I think there will be plenty of time before beach weather arrives.
Well must get back to the paper work. Oh, if you didn't get a chance to see my last post on our spay and neuter day at the Humane Society please go back and take a looksy. It was an exciting day and I am so happy to have been able to participate with such a wonderful group of volunteers! :o)
It looks like they had such a wonderful time. I know how important that family time is for everyone.
ReplyDeleteThat paperwork probably seems like it will never end. One thing that we have done here is to make a video of all the contents. We learned to do that when we lived in a fire area and have always tried to keep it updated. It was such a difficult job to list everything after the 1994 earthquake destroyed E's folk's home. Everything was in a million pieces.

ReplyDeleteKeeping a list sounds like a great idea. Doing it may not be fun, though. But necessary. And the video idea appeals too. I know I learnt so many things AFTER Geoff died, which I wish I had thought of before. I made sure all my friends knew what was important so they would at least benefit from my mistakes.

ReplyDeleteI think it's good advice to copy down everything in the house, as you say you never know what can happen as you found out the hard way! I can well imagine what a huge job it will be to furnish the whole summer house again. At least the furniture stores will be happy with you! hehe
I was just outside to take a few pictures around the yard. You should see all the grass that's showing and some of it is turning green! That is NOT something we usually see here in March. My faerie garden is completely bare of snow so I`m worried about my rose bushes. Usually they stay protected from the cold weather by the snow. At least we`re having nothing but sunshine these days and temps in the30`s so I`m happy:-)

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you at least are able to account for your house contents. Thanks for the heads up. Our insurance man suggested we video all our closets, drawers, etc. Mine are never neat enough that I want to do that. I think when we get home, I'll take you up on your advice.
